BOOM!!!
"Woah!!
I cannot believe, what I'm seeing, Ladies and Gentlemen! As you can see, Mr Jack employs his renowned Fire-blizzard attack.
Amazing!! good judgement based on the landscape, Spectacular!"
"But Ms Sina dodges the attack, what a wonderful display of her Aqua shield. And there it is!! Mr Jack's trump card -'Rad beam'!"
BOOM!!!
"It seems like we have our champion! And here we have it, Folks... What the?! Miss Sina is still standing! But what about Mr Ja... Huh!! What the, How!?... Mr Jack is down! MR. JACK HAS FALLEN!!! Ladies and Gentlemen, The winner of the Arose fighting league, is none other than 'Killer of the Silent Night', one and only,
Ms Sina!!!"
"I-I cannot… begin to compose my excitement, and just like that, The table has turned, what the hell!? Happened in those few seconds!!"
POW!!!
"OUCH!!!"
"Young man!! How often do I have to tell you, "No TV after 10 p.m."?
"Ow!" G-Grandpa, It hurts..., and not watching TV here! I am gaining knowledge."
"Oh!! Please do enlighten this old man, how?"
"Tomorrow's the day I leave for my journey, correct, So I'm watching a few official matches as a reference for my future battles. It's purely for educational purposes. "
"Che... educational, my wrinkly old ass, you are just wasting your time."
"Say that again, old man!"
"Now-Now, don't get your panties in a twist. By the way, have you decided which Spirit you're goanna bond with for your journey?"
"..."
"…OMG!! Don't tell me! You haven't even chosen which spirit you want to be bonded with!? Well, I'll be…, I thought you were ready. "
"Wait-Wait, I have decided which one I want, but you see the thing is... well, it's a plant-based spirit called "Skira," weapon class called Dagger, a normal grade."
"Phew! Thank God… Well, at least you still remember my teachings. Good. "
"Yeah, I know... It doesn't matter what your spirit is or what grade it may be. All that matters is the user and his fighting abilities on how to use that weapon. "
"And the state of mind. very good! That's my grandson. So, what's the issue? "
'sigh'... "Well, it's a twin dagger and you know well that, I am not good at handling the weapons. Hand-to-hand combat is my speciality.
I hoped for a spirit weapon just like yours. I mean, just look at you and Kureha. Both of you, are so strong and well-matched."
"Hmm...Listen, Ashu, you are correct; Kuruha and I are well matched and strong, but that's not because he is a gauntlet, a special grade, or my speciality.
No, sure, those things do matter, but to some extent. The reason me and Kruruha are so strong is because of our teamwork and practice.
Remember Just like when we practised, at the start of your training, you got yourself so beat up by a callaloo, a lesser animal spirit no less, but look as the time progressed, you have overcome that hurdle and look at you now, you can now even defeat ordinary type spirits in hand-to-hand combat.
So don't sweat it. As time progresses, you will eventually get the hang of it. "
"Hmm... I think you are right.
Thanks!
By the way, where are you heading this late at night? "
"... Hahaha... about that? You see, son…, the thing is…, someone from the army had just called and asked me to come for a meeting, so..."
"What!!
But You promised me you would be there to see me off!? What were they thinking? Don't they know that even you have a family to take care of? "
"Right-Right, that's what I was about to say to them, but... you know how army life is. When duty calls, you got to respond, and no one above's the duty; duty is your life crap...even if I don't like it, I too sometimes must follow this rule.
But guess what! I promise you, I will see you off, even if it means I must teach those higher-ups a lesson or two about what family is. Don't worry, I promise. "
"Okay, whatever you say, where's Kureha? He's going too, isn't he? and what about Danny, tell me at least she'll come tomorrow."
"Kureha, On the phone, talking to the higher-ups, unfortunately, yes, he'll be coming with me and yes, Danny will be there to see you off, don't worry... Say... if you can't fall asleep, how about we go for a little spar to break some sweat? "
"....! Hehehe... Always ready to kick your wrinkly old ass, old man! "
"Ha-Ha-Ha... Don't get cheeky with me, punk. Don't come crying to me when you get some boo-boo spoiled. "
"Yeah right, we'll see about that..."
.
.
.
.
.
"You know the rules, right?"
"Yep, only hand-to-hand combat and no cheap tricks."
"Good, now come at me, Boy!"
"Phew!"
Ashu 'Remember, take a deep breath, empty your mind, observe your enemy's stance, look at him in his eyes, don't let your mind wander, Now Go!!'
"Ohoho!!!..." Well, at least he knows what he's doing, which is good but not enough. He is forgetting that I am the one who taught him everything he knows. He needs to come up with something unique.
Huh!! Running straight at me, what a stupid move.
"You are too cocky for your good." Grandpa clapped his hands together as he took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
Even though I knew what he was about to do and what was about to happen, I still went straight at him, fist clenched, and threw a straight jab at his face, but he opened his eye at that moment, and he wrapped his arm around mine like a snake wrapping himself around his pray.
That was the moment I was waiting for. I retreated my hand as fast as I could and turned myself in another direction, dogged his grab and I increased power input at my speed.
Whoosh whoosh!!
At that moment, I appeared right behind him, akin to a ghost that made grandpa look shocked. I again threw the punch, this time with more speed, but that was foolish of me to believe that I could overcome him with that ease.
Even after I appeared behind him, his eyes were not wide out of shock at his chance of him losing; No instead, his eyes were wide due to my unexpected movements. With his calm eyes, he dogged my fist by turning my waist opposite to my incoming fist, then he grabbed my wrist and tried to slam my body to the ground with ease.
For a moment, I felt I was light as a feather as he picked me up by my wrist and threw me onto the ground like a sack of potatoes.
I tried to regain my balance as I was falling, but grandpa came straight at me at full speed. He was so fast, that before my legs could touch the ground, he threw a heavy punch at my falling body.
The punch was aimed straight at my sternum. I tried to block the impact by tightening my stomach muscles and shifting slightly in mid-air, as his punch landed on my arms.
By doing so, I diminish the force of the blow and take it head-on, letting my muscles absorb the force of the impact.
But, even after doing that, the impact was so massive that, it pushes my body to a large distance and my back hit a nearby tree.
For a moment, I thought my arms were broken for good. I couldn't feel them attached to my body.
"Well!! I'll be... so you did improve. Sorry for not holding back. Are you OK? "Wanna continue or should we stop?"
"UGH!...Yeah right!! Not holding back, You weren't even trying. Shit!! still not strong enough.
sigh '
"No, let's continue."
"That's the spirit!!" You truly are my grandson. Let me tell you, I'm so proud. "
I stood up. My back was aching so much so that it was screaming, for me to stop, It was tempting but my heart and mind were filled with so much adrenaline that, it had forgotten the pain.
I again took a deep breath and looked at Grandpa. He was static as a boulder.
I accelerated myself and charged straight at him, jumping, and kicking his chin, but he dogged me by taking a few steps backwards.
I landed on the ground and kicked him in the chest.
Boom!!
Grandpa blocked it with ease, but he ended up getting pushed further back.
"Powerful kick!" Grandpa exclaimed, after feeling his arms sore from the aftershock of the kick.
'You have come a long way; I am so proud, but you are still not there, not at that level.'
Not done yet, I rushed at Grandpa again and began assaulting him with quick punches, aiming at his jaw, liver, and even his crotch.
"Whoa!! I know I did teach you that, but boy you don't have to use it against me. "
"For your information, you were the one who taught me to aim at every possible weakness without exception, so I am following that. And look at who's saying this, the one who doesn't even use his one percentage of power."
"Hahaha... So if you don't mind if I go a little rough on you, do you? "
"No, take your shot."
Unfortunately, Grandpa got serious and managed to parry all the punches successfully. He didn't even react when I attacked his crotch, knowing that I would have done the same.
When he retaliated against me, he attempted to knee me in my crotch as well, aiming to paralyse me for a split second.
Too bad, I always expected the worst from my opponents, allowing myself to intercept Grandpa's knee with an elbow.
Boom!!
Both of us were launched a few metres back from the aftershock as our bones collided fiercely.
we ran towards each other and this time I welcomed him by giving him a Spinning Round Kick and strict in his head.
He wonderfully blocked my attack and then gave me an upper-cut punch. After that, he used a Straight Front Kick and strick my face.
I took a few steps back to maintain some distance from him but he was clearly aware of my intentions and so he purposefully stepped on my feet to prevent me from retreating and then gave a straight punch on my lower jaw.
I tightened my jaw and prepared my face for what was about to come. it helped me to reduce some of the pain I was about to feel. after that punch, stuck my lower jaw, I was wobbling, it was like the world spinning, I regain balance after some seconds, and I instantly gave a horizontal axe kick to his neck.
it created a moment of opportunity for me and I gave a full roundhouse kick again. A straight punch on his sternum. And then shoulder a throw. but he maintained his distance by retreating.
Before stabilising our footing, we blasted off the ground and connected again in a rapid, frenzied assault!
Kicks, punches, bites, elbows, knees, grapples — everything was being used in the fight, resulting in an artistic but savage form of battle!
As we fought this frenzied battle called sparring, I looked at my grandpa. He was sliming, and I found that he was enjoying himself. I too, enjoy myself.
I know I'm not strong enough to even let my grandpa use his actual strength. I'm sad, but inside I knew he wouldn't use it on me, even if I'm strong enough to handle it he wouldn't use his strength because he loves me too dearly. He would let himself get beat up but wouldn't use his actual strength.
As we fought, I felt something as the strands of hair on the back of my neck stood up, informing me that something has about come, it was coming toward us at full speed, and just like that, out of nowhere, a powerful punch went straight toward Grandpa's face. That punch was so powerful that it had sent Grandpa straight flying.
I looked at that person who sent Grandpa flying, and to my surprise, it was none other than Kureha!!
"Kureha...."
"You silly old fart! What do you think, you are doing? We are getting late, those fucking higher-ups are cursing me instead of you, and why in the lord's name won't you pick up your damn phone... " As those loud words bombarded my grandfather, who was thrown back a few miles by the force of that punch, I got a few moments to myself and the adrenaline rush that I had was settled. My body started experiencing pain, and the backlash was so powerful and painful that it took me a few minutes to come to my senses and stand properly.
Kureha sensed my presence and looked at me with surprise at the first question he asked me:
"Oh!! Ashu, why are you here!? I thought I told you to go to sleep," he asked, as a punch came at my head.
"Ouch-ouch..."
"Hehe... sorry Kureha. The thing is, you see, I was so excited for my journey tomorrow that I couldn't fall asleep."
"Sigh... Oh Lord, this family, you and your grandpa are two peas in a pod. Just for God's sake, fall asleep. "
"Ugh... You know, have you no shame in hitting an old man like me? What would happen if I had passed away? You don't have to be so rough on me every time. Be careful.
And I was checking on him, not wasting time. At this rate, you'll die single," my grandfather, who was coming at us while cracking muscles and stretching his arms and legs, said.
Both I and Kureha looked at each other, and I prayed for my grandpa: 'rest in the piece'.
"...
"...
Pow!!!
"Anything else to say?"
"UGH!! "No sir.
"Oye, old man, we are getting late and Ashu, you come here, let me see your wounds."
"Here..." I did what I was told as I looked at the mess, grandpa was in.
"Hmm... nothing serious, but still, I will transfer some of my energy to you, for safety reasons."
"Thanks, uncle Kuruha!!"
"Can you help me too, please?" grandpa asked with a swollen face.
"Shut up!"
"Ok"
"Now... we have to go, Ashu, and good luck with your journey tomorrow." Ohh!! And if we don't show up by the time you leave, then don't wait for us, ok? "
"Sure…"
"Don't be sad. Listen, son, you always have our blessing and if you remember what we taught you, then you'd be OK."
"I know, thanks." I knew it, well I can't blame him. And like that, I turned to our home.
"…"
"…"
