“Fang wake up!” A girl’s voice yelled from the first floor, “You're gonna make us late for school again!”
“Ah shit,” I said looking at the clock above my door which read 7:15, they had to leave in five minutes.
I rubbed my eyes and stood taking in the sight of my bedroom. Almost all the furniture was charred, due to my outbursts, and the computer was left on from last night. The black walls were starting to burn away from all the fire that had been thrown at them. The lamp beside my bed, which I turned on, had most of the shade gone. I made a mental note to get a new one. I walked over to my closet where I found a clean black jacket and a dark purple and white striped T-shirt. I grabbed a pair of black ripped jeans from my dresser and quickly changed.
After I finished changing I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, put my long black hair into a ponytail, and put on eyeliner to smudge around my eyes. I looked in the mirror and admired my reflection, making those stupid faces everyone does just to get a good laugh. I had acid green eyes and small green scales on the left side of my face. My pupils were slits, like a snake, because that’s what my “other half” is. I found out later that day that I was considered an Elementian, but at the moment I honestly thought I’d be some sorta elf cause of the pointed ears.
I’m eighteen, but almost all Elementian’s powers evolve when your around thirteen to fourteen years old. Mine came around when I was fifteen, hence the ‘I thought I was an elf for so long.’
“Fang it’s 7:19 hurry up!” The girl, whose name is Alkali, yelled up at me again.
“I’m coming give me two seconds!” I yelled back and finished smudging my outliner. I looked extra emo today, goals huh. I thought to go extra for my senior year of highschool.
I heard a soft knock on my door, “Fang?” A quiet voice whispered, “Is it safe to come in or are you still getting dressed?”
“Come on in Lola, it’s safe.” I laughed and when she opened the door she had that cute pouty face, like the one a siblings makes if they don’t get what they want.
Her blonde hair fell around her shoulders hiding the majority of her body. Lola had thick blonde hair that went to her knees. She usually wore it in a ponytail or bun, but I guess since today is the first day of our senior year, she’s going all out like me. Lola was only 5’½”, so she wasn’t very intimidating until you made her mad and she threatens to grow poison ivy around your neck. But other than that, she’s a shy girl who doesn’t really act herself until she’s around people she’s close to. Lola’s other half was a rabbit. She had floppy light brown bunny ears and a little fluffy tail that she had to cut holes in all her jeans for.
“Al’s getting mad.” She said curling her hair around her finger. She always does that when she’s nervous. You pick up little things like that when you’ve been best friends since you were both five.
“Let her be mad Lola, I’m almost ready just need to pack up my backpack.” I turned and grabbed my backpack off it’s hook and shoved my sketchbook and markers into the bottom of the bag and put the normal school stuff on top of it. I don’t really like people looking through my drawings or even knowing I draw. I want to keep up that emo tough guy kinda vibe, but drawing just doesn’t seem to fit that criteria, at least to me. I think with time I’ll be more confident about it, but not now.
“You need help?” Lola asked looking over my shoulder as I tied my black converse.
“No, I can tie my shoes dummy.” I smiled.
She smacked me in the head, “I meant with finishing packing, because pretty sure you need your history textbook.” She pointed to the book still sitting on my desk.
“Oh yeah thanks Lols,” I grabbed the book and shoved it into my backpack. “Alright let’s go.”
