The isle of Othen is known as the once-great meeting place of the gods. The gods, creators of the known lands, worked together to shape the isle through their combined power. Because of this, the soil now surges with vitality, causing an abundance of plant life to inhabit the surface. The intimidating presence of the gods has led few to desire to live on the isle in fear of angering them. Per this, the human capital of Othen, Wodian, is known as the "center of the universe." It is the most extensive kingdom, with educated citizens and beautiful scenery. The people of Wodian respect the gods that once created their homeland. Accordingly, they are known for their reserved and academic personalities. Most of the leaders of other nations have either studied or originated from Wodian, which gives the kingdom a reputation of mastery.
Since no one specific god rules over Othen, cities outside of Wodian are often small and scarcely populated. The outskirts of Bayla are known for their large quantity of poverty-stricken residents. Wooden Lake village is a small, somewhat unpopulated area inhabited by poor farmers and hunters. In the village, two farmers were having a conversation.
"Have you heard of the happenings in Ostari?" One farmer questions, wiping the sweat off of his brow.
The other farmer sighs and wipes his hands on his clothing. "It's more like the happenings of every nation outside of Othen!" The farmer humphs, "These days, you can hardly receive imports because the damn ship sunk!" The farmer groans and sits down to splash his face with water. "Anywho, you said you needed some of my apples for..." The farmer turns around to see the basket empty. Just past the trees behind the basket sits the thief carelessly eating the bright red fruit. The farmer yells after him, "Hey! That's my fruit!"
The thief glances up through his hair and immediately runs away. The farmer stands up and chases after him through the forest. The woodland is thick, as all are in Othen. The branches and vines slowly get thinner as the thief approaches a clearing. The farmer yells from behind him as he reaches the clearing. The thief vanishes through the last trees and runs onto a road. In front of him was the entrance to the kingdom of Wodian. Its vivid colors and captivating scenery were amiss to none, save for this thief, who paid no attention to where he was running. When he looked ahead, he saw a knight; then the ground.
The gods that ascended from the early people displayed much resilience and strength. Their ascension was a testament to their power and determination, which they had proven to be sufficient to protect their world. The natural processes have since relied on their might, determining the fortune of the future. When suddenly, the gods no longer answer the peoples' prayers, what can the citizens do?
