This is a new series that I have been working on tirelessly for the better part of two years and I am excited to get started. However, to be on the safe side I am adding a disclaimer to give you a general heads up for what’s in store.
While this is a period drama set in the medieval era in England it will not be written in "ye olde English". Certain words and structures will used time and again to reflect the time period however it is time consuming (and may be alienating) and not entirely plot conducive.
Concerning the time period itself, it is a non specific time before the Black death. The kingdom in question is completely a work of fiction and not too many historical milestones will be alluded to. Additionally, many social themes and practices of the era will be, for lack of a better term, scaled back a bit. Inherently the likelihood of a gay married couple existing, out in the open, during the god fearing years of Europe without disaster was statistically low. The social structure and dynamic in which men and women lived, interacted, and were seen under the law may seem cruel now. I will take some liberties with this however I cannot deviate too much from the time period. Consider the kingdom socially progressive in some ways but lacking severely in others.
Given the nature of the Executioner’s work there will be moments of torture, blood, gore and descriptions of extreme violence that cannot be avoided. Thematically, there will be open discussions, descriptions, and elements of violence against women, children, animals, and the elderly throughout. Sexual assault will also be discussed openly however it will not be lingered upon longer than necessary. These things are not here for shock value but they will show up from time to time. Trigger warnings will be placed for the extreme chapters (sexual assault and torture scenes) but do expect casual violence to happen. The job of an Executioner is to deal the death penalty, or cause grievous injury to those who disrupt law and order. If you personally cannot handle much gore or violence than this may be the wrong tale for you. If the thought of anything horrible happening to animals, or children dying in any capacity, feel too much to handle, this is not recommended leisure material. The tragedy label is there for a reason.
I will do my best to update every ten days. I do have a full time job and I work night shifts so there will be late updates in the future. Any future hiccups will be posted immediately in announcements in case anything happens.
Thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy The Executioner and the Bride.
