How do you expect your last day of high school to go? Are you going to cry as you leave the building? Or maybe have a dramatic exit. Well for me I go out with a bang. But first, let me explain who I am.

My name is Adara. I am what most would call an Elemental. We are people who have been born with the ability of nature. Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Magic. As long as these people have existed we have never seen a Magic human. Now I bet you’re wondering, How did these people come to be? Well to make this long story short. A long time ago a giant radioactive crystal came crashing into the Earth in a random part of the Gobi Desert. When it landed it shattered into billions of pieces. When it shattered it let out its radioactive magic and changed people's DNA. Over time the DNA would pass down to some children. Even though many would have the DNA of the magic, many wouldn’t have the activation strand. Without that, they couldn’t use their powers. So these people have been lost for many years. In ancient times they thought these people were gods. Then they suddenly disappeared. Recently these people have come back. Nobody knows we exist but we do.  Me and my friends have these powers. I have Fire powers, my best friend Zola has Earth powers, my boyfriend Kai has Water powers, and my friend Zephyr who has wind powers.

But enough with the explanation. This story starts in my last subject of high school. Algebra 2. The teacher hated me because I would always have to leave to stop some monster. And instead of letting me make up my grade, he would just make it plummet. And since I had been sick the past week I had no time to study. So the test went about as well as you would expect.

So there you see me sitting in algebra class, guessing ninety percent of the questions. Zola was sitting next to me. She had also been sick, so we were both going to fail. But we still worked on it. As we turned in our papers a ten-foot-tall bull busted in. Everyone ran out of the room screaming as Zephyr and Kai ran in. They looked like they were about to say something when they saw the bull. They just stood there as I turned back to Zola. We knew exactly what to do. She ran away from it as I waved my hands around to get its attention. When it charged. I put my hands up and they felt slightly warm as I made a giant wall of fire. When I let the fire down, the monster was in a cage of vines. Some flowers popped out of the vines and let out a gas that quickly and harmlessly killed the monster. Now that the monster had died it turned to dust then floated away.

“What are you two here for?” I asked the boys.

“We need to show you something,” Kai said.

As we walked through the school Zola asked, “Good or bad?”

“Unsure,” Kai said.

We followed them outside where we saw flashes of purple and gold light in the woods behind the school. We ran as fast as we could to see what was happening. When we got back there we saw to kids about thirteen using a power similar to ours but, different. It didn’t have any part of nature in it, but something inside me told me they were like us. When the monster disintegrated, they turned and saw us. For a second they stared then ran off farther into th woods. We followed them. Not trying to be creepy or anything. But trying to make sure they weren’t a threat and to figure out what they were doing. Finally they stopped. They weren’t out of breath, they just stopped. We were about ten-feet away so we couldn’t hear anything, but we could see. Then the girl showed the boy her hand that was dripping with blood. For the first time I noticed what they looked like. The boy had a dark denim jacket, matching jeans, sneakers, and a red shirt. The girl had dark hair that almost looked purple in the sun, it was short and curly, about mid-shoulder length. She had on black combat boots, a washed light denim jacked that had spots of red on it, shorts, and a big emerald t-shirt tied around her waist. Her legs had cuts all over them and her shirt had a big splotch that was slowly growing. They both looked really worried. I walked up to them with Zola and Kai following. “Are you two okay?” I asked.

I must have startled them because the girl pulled a dagger out of her combat boot and the boy held up his hands like Iron Man. We all put our hands up above our heads. Something about them made me feel like even though it would be two against four we would lose a fight with them. The boy put his hands down and the girl still help her dagger but she seemed like she wasn’t going to hurt us. Then she spoke, “Who are you?”

Looking at her face, I remembered why I recognized her. She was one half of the two Fleetwood twins. A few weeks ago there was a story about how Bell and Ethan Fleetwood had run away. “We aren’t going to hurt you.” I said.

She stuck her dagger back in her boot. “Hey, you two are the runaway Fleetwood twins.” Zephyr said, “Who ever returned you would get a lot of money.”

Ethan’s face looked scared but he put his arm in front of Bell almost holding her back. I glared back at Zephyr then turned back. Bell had put her knife away.

“If you take us back,” She said her voice shaking, “You will not make it a mile.”

“Why don’t you.” I asked, “Your family was rich.”

“Well what would make you want to leave.”

“Getting mad at my parents.”

“Guess again.”

Then I remember that they had only run away yesterday. How could they both have so many cuts from one night.

“Were they bad parents.” I asked.

“Worse.” Elise said.

She seemed like she wouldn’t talk anymore so Ethan continued, “They were abusive.”

We all stayed silent. How was I supposed to respond to this. No wonder they would run away. We would have to help them. “Would you like to come with us? I think we can help.”

They looked at eachother for a few second then Ethan said, “okay.”

“What!” Zephyr said, “We can’t bring two teenagers with us.”

“We are just going to drop them off with Mildred.”

We started to walk through the forest. I didn’t know why I had asked if they wanted to come with us. I just felt like I needed to. Like something inside of me I couldn’t say no to. We came to a big hut in the middle of the woods. I opened the door and we all walked in.

“Good afternoon Mildred.” I said as we walked in.

The hut had spices and potions hanging from the ceiling. There was a door way which was new, but I didn’t notice it. I did however notice her eyes. They were glowing bright yellow. “How dare you!” She screamed in a multiplied voice. “You should have never even though to take me! Out I have sent you!”

She ran over and grabbed a lever. When she pulled it the doorway opened and started to pull us in. It kept pulling and pulling till it pulled us through.
