Awakening
A breeze rustled through the leaves of the trees above, a slight chill running across gently tanned skin. Muscles flexed from the sensation as nostrils flared from the assault of mixing scents. Molten gold eyes slowly blinked open taking in the night sky. The darkness he was shrouded in gave his eyes time to adjust to his now awakened state; his gold gaze roamed the forest he now found himself in though where he was unsure. The smells assaulting his sensitive nose told him the world with which he now resided was tainted with some sort of pollution. The being scoffed when he took a breath of polluted air in. He wanted to gag but he was a prince, making such a noise was uncouth. Using a bit of his aura he pulled it around his nose to filter the air he breathed. Taking in a deep breath, his shoulders relaxed. Rising from the ground he gave his limbs a stretch. The sounds of popping and cracking reached his sensitive ears, though that is what one would expect from being stationary for hundreds of years.
Letting out a low rumble from deep in his chest, he heard the sounds of footfalls as the few animals near him fled from their resting places. The new danger makes the forest eerily silent. A smirk graced his otherworldly features as he ran a slightly clawed hand through his short black hair. The breeze blowing about him once more reminded him of his unclothed state. He would need to find clothing soon.
He tilted his head back to catch the scents along the chilled night breeze. His golden eyes closed to concentrate on the smells, his nostrils flaring to life as he sifted through the multitude of scents. The one making itself the most prominent being human.
The sickening stench of them assaulted his nose from every direction. Some were closer than others. He never really liked the human species but he also did not go out of his way to harm them. They aged much quicker than the demon species, therefore they tended to smell of rotting flesh to his sensitive nose. He avoided contact with this race almost as much as he avoided the fae. Though fae were harmless little things, they could be a force to reckon with in numbers. Fae enjoyed playing tricks on any and everyone. You could be a feared dragon slayer or Satan himself, but a group of fae could have you trapped in their magical twisted games for a lifetime. Whereas humans were far less threatening, they tended to enjoy killing the lands and their own kind over paying attention to other beings lurking in the woods. Deciding a human would be able to at least clothe him he headed in the direction of the nearest human habitant.
As his bare feet padded silently through the wood forest his ears picked up animals scurrying out of his path. He took note of the animals this world held. Recognising most, he grew more confident that hunting would not be a problem for him. The crisp air caused another shiver to run through his body, focusing his aura to thicken, he felt himself begin to warm. Letting out a huff he watched as his warm breath filled the night air with smoke-like vapor. What he would give to be able to start a fire right now.
The woods started to clear out, opening up to a small clearing with a humble cabin in the middle. The lights were all off, the occupant sleeping soundly. He could hear the sounds of a female breathing steadily. Creeping silently over to the door he quietly tried the handle to open the place up. He was sure he could find something to cover himself with. The owner would never know it was gone. Unfortunately, the door was locked, deciding he would go about this a different way he tried the other door and a few windows, he cursed silently under his breath when he found all to be locked. He could have easily broken in but that was against his moral upbringing. Sniffing the air again he knew the closest neighbor was quite a distance away, and by the lighting of the sky he wouldn't make it there before daylight. Deciding on his best course of action he went to the front door of the small cabin, with a resigned sigh he knocked loudly on the door. His ears picked up the jolt of her heart accelerating from the unannounced visitor. He could feel her aura pulse with trepidation. Knocking again to assure her that he was indeed at the door, he heard her heartbeat quicken and he could smell the scent of fear from inside the home. Now he had to worry about a possible attack on his person. Sighing again, he listened to footfalls coming towards the door he was in front of. The door never opened but he did hear a startled gasp. Probably from his nude form being at her doorstep.
