… Unfortunately, due to discovering a new path to nirvana, Doctor Mordecai Jenkins never returned from the mountain, never wrote his groundbreaking thesis on environmentally preserved obscure zoology, and never returned the copy of Charles Darwin’s ‘On the Origin of Species’ he had borrowed from the local library in preparation for his trip.

Local rumor has it that the fine alone is nearly equivalent to the entire cost of the expedition.

Anyways- obviously this one is not autobiographical, but it is an idea I’ve had stashed in a pocket notebook that was on my person every day about 10 years ago.

I love “The Far Side” by Gary Larson, and every now and then I like to tinker with different formats. So yes, this takes shameless inspiration from the one panel, one caption brevity of that classic (and recently revived) comic.

I loooove this kind of comic format. I've been considering doing more comics like this, definitely takes the pressure off of doing a complete full page of illustrations!
