The sun slowly came out behind the tall mountain and green hills. The warm rays waked up it's inhabitants of the forest. These rays also got into an interesting home. The house was on a giant tree, which the tree hold with it branch gently yet firmly as a mother would hold her child. Soon the light got into the home by one of the window. The window belong to the room of Lisa, the Guardian. As the light got to her face she opened one of her eyes and grunted
" Just five more minutes..."
And with that she showed her back to the sun. But instead to going back to sleep, she looked at her sleeping partner with a smile on her face. A young boy was sleeping next to her. He was around 9 years old. His skin as fair as snow , and his hair it's like the ray of sun touched it. Lisa found this child during one of her quest. He was all alone, left in a glass coffin. As she was watching him the old memories of that quest came back. Her feelings swirled inside of her. But not for long...
" Good morning sleepyheads! Breakfasts is ready!"
" Lukas. Knock first for the love of the gods"
" Oops. Sorry" the man closed the door and knocked on before he opened it again
" Good morning sleppyheads! Brea-"
" We get it, we get it." said the girl while slowly crawling out the bed. She placed her hands on the shoulder of the boy and gently rocked it " Joshua. it's morning already, wake up dear" she talked to him gently and quietly. The boy then opened his eyes. His eyes were emerald green, like a beautiful forest with it's beautiful trees.
" I'm already up...Lukas woke me up already..." he yawned between his lines as he sit up in the bed.
After they morning routine then finally got to the dining room where Lukas was waiting for them. Lukas is like the housekeeper. While Lisa was away he looked after it, cleaned it, kept the tree branches no to totaly overgrown the house, and made food for the others. He was saved by Lisa and since then he wants to pay back that by keeping her home clean and make it feel home like rather than a place where she just lives.
" Finally, I tought the two of you never get out of that bed"
" Oh shush. We finally sleept for a few hours."
" That's true. But still, Joshua you need to learn to sleep in your bed."
The young boy pouted " I just...It was cold in there. In Lisa's room is much more warm"
" You mean you had a nightmare again?"
" N-No!"
The other two laughed loudly as the poor boy blushed and looked down at his feets.
" It's okay Joshua" said the young man " You can tell us, everybody, even we adults have nightmares"
" I-I was just cold!"
" Okay. As you wish your highness"
They sat down around a little stump table which was packed with foods and drinks.
" You always make so much food Lukas. This much could fill up a group of peoples belly"
" Well, I'm practiseing when we have more peoples around her"
Lisa looked at him with with an interesinting look on her face as she was drinking some fruit juice " What are you suggesting?"
" Well, you know" the guy quickly looked away , trying to hides his face( very poorly) that was kinda red" Maybe you find other kids that you took in..."
" As far as I know Lukas, I'm a Guardian, not a mother hen that took in every child that it sees"
Before the man could say anything a knock could be heared on the door that lead to the stairs outside of the house. Joshua quickly jumped off his seat and opened the door.
" Miss Ashaura!"
A women was standing there. Skins just as fair as snow, her hair is long and white, which hugged the form of the woman.
" Joshua my dear. it's been a while" her voice kind, gentle and warm like her apparance. She hugged the boy whose eyes started sparkling like the emerald itself.
" Lady Ashaura. What can i do for you? Another quest?" Lisa raised up from her seat. Her voice became louder and deeper. She was standing stiff , puting her chest out a little like a solider.
" Sadly it is my dear" Ashaura is the goddess of the Guardians. Her job is to tell the Guardians where are they needed and help them if it is required.
" Where I'm needed?"
" The Kingdom of Florencia. One it's royalty's castle and it's town has been over run by vines. It only appeared now, a barrier was hiding it and recently this barrier went down"
" I see. I will go right away."
" I want to go too!" the young boy quickly jumped between them. His face was full of energy and curiosity in his eyes, with a smile on his face the almost goes to ear to ear.
" Are you sure Joshua?" stepped foward Lukas " Why don't you stay home for now? "
" I want to go with Lisa! I want to help!"
" Let him Lukas. You know what is he like. Once he made up his mind, he won't be stoped." said Lisa.
Lukas just looked at the young boy, then sighed
" As you wish your highness, but atleast let me pack something for the two of you"
" Thank you Lukas."
" Yay! Lukasyou are the best!" Joshua jumped on him, he almost pushed down the man he had so much energy in him
" Oof! Hey kid, just careful" laughed Lukas" Now, I pack something tasty for you and some medicines and bandage if anything would happen."
After they packed what they might need, Lisa and Joshua leaved the house. They walked down on a giant wood caracole that goes around the tree. The man looked at them on a small terrace and waved as they walked away.
Finally the two of them arrived to a giant stone pedestal. They walked on it and then the marking on the stone started glowing blue
" Okay. Now hold my hands."
" Wha-! i'm not a baby!"
" I just want to make sure you won't get teleported away."
" Okay fine."
" Now then....Ahem...Hear my word oh holly artifact, hear the world of the Guardian. Take me where my aid is needed, take me to the Kingdom of the Flowers!"
After her chant a bright light appeard from beneath them and slowly they disappeared into the air.
In the other part of the world a stone pedestal lit up and two persons appeares on them. Lisa and Joshua safely arrived.
" Okay. Let's see what we have here..." Lisa took out a scroll that was blank first, but as she opened it up, a map started to appear on it. Roads, with possible dangers on the way , short cuts, it showed even inside of the castle.
" Okay. We need to go there. The castle isn't much farther away."
The two of them started walking where the map showed the way.
On their way the forest where they walked through was dark and silent. Not even birds singing was heared. But even stranger that the tees were covered in vines. As the deeper they walked, they saw dead trees, they looked like if something sucked the life out of them.
" It must be the vines" said Joshua
" Most likely. So let's be careful with them. if they did this to trees, I don't want to imagine what it could do to a person"
They silently countinued their way to the castle town. When they finally got to the gates a not so unfamiliar scenes welcomed them. Vines everywhere.
" Well then. How to get in? As much fire could help us, it may get attention of who ever stayed inside, and maybe it wouldn't be good."
" Then we simply cut it!"
" But we don't know if it can be. And I don't want to use the Guardian Sword for all the time we got into this problem. it is a lot of energy to summon even if it dosen't looks like it. Right now we look around for anything sharp. let's see if normal tools help us."
They seperated but stayed close to each other just enough to see the other one. As Lisa suspected, the vines didn't get the energy out from trees. At places, skeleton hanged from the vines, the remaints of those poor souls that tried to get away from this monstrous plant.
" Poor souls...May Miropha guide you to the light"
After a few prayers lisa heared Joshuas's shout
" Lisa! I found one! There is a sword!" the young boy strugguling but get the sword out of the skeleton of a guard that seemed to fight back against the vines. Lisa took the sword from the young boy
" Nice find. Now let's see if it still works" And with that she swinged the sword against the vines. It did some damage to them but it wasn't much
" Ah. This way it would take for ages to cut it down."
" Let me try! I praticed my magic!" Lisa looked worried a little at him " Are you sure ?"
" Well, I never know if I can't try it out in action." Joshua stepped foward, streched out his hands an focused his powers into them. Soon a green glow appeared on the vines, and slowly it crawled back, clearing the path
" See! I told you!"
" Well well well. You leave me impressed. Nice work! " Joshua's face lit up, with a giant grin on his face. Lisa looked at him with a proud look in her eyes
" But now, the path is clear. Let us see what happend here." And they walked in.
The town was silent, everything was covered in vines. The sun was shining brightly, but even the that couldn't helped to lift the depressed feeling if the place.
" I wonder...How long that this place became like this. Miss Ashaura said they discovered recently this place because that barrier..."
" I don't know Joshua. But whatever caused to grow these vines , it seems it comes from the castle. "
" I wonder who could be there..."
" Me too. For one we know it is not Briar Rose, she is still sleeping and the prince isn't close by, and neither her brother. He is also still sleeping."
" Then who could it be?"
" Only one way to find out." And with that they started running towards the castle.
The giant and heavy door creaked as it was opened by the two newcomer of the castle. Just like in the town everything was covered in the vines. The furniture, the walls, some paitings too. Joshua huggd himself and shaked his head
" This place is getting more and more creepy."
" Yeah. I don't like the feeling of this place either."
The walked into the throne room, in where at the of the room was the king's and queen's throne. They carefuly walked towards it.
The queen's throne was empty, but on the king's throne was a skeleton. Mostly likely the king itself. A dagger was in his chest and from the wound many vines begining were in.
" It seems we found the source of the vines."
" Oh! I just pull it out and the vines should go away!" but as the boy was about to grab the dagger Lisa pulled his hand away
" No! You don't know what could it do!"
" But-"
" No buts! I don't want anything to happen to you!"
Joshua yanked his arm out of Lisa's grip
" Why can't you trust me?"
" It's not about trust Joshua!"
" Yes it is!"
The boy turned away and started running away, Lisa after him
" Joshua! Wait! "
But before she could catch him, the ground started shaking, the walls started collapsing around them. A giant gap formed between them. After the earthquake stoped they looked for the other one
" Lisa! Where are you?"
" Joshua! I'm here!" she shout back to him and waved. They got the seperated by the gap
" Wait! I make a bridge!" Joshua focused his powers again on the vines. The vines slowly started forming a stong bridge but the boy couldn't hold it for too long " Wait! Let me try the other way!" Now the boy was glowing with a light blue aura, he streched out his hands towards the gap, and suddenly ice appeared between the two sides, but this bride couldn't hold up for too long either.
" L-Let me try again!"
" No Joshua! You need your powers, we go seperate ways. There must be a way to meet up"
" Alright. I look around. Be careful!"
" I should be the one to say that! But the same to you!"
And with the the young boy ran away from the gap. Lisa watched him as he disappared in the other half of the castle. She turned away from the gap and looked the way ahead of her.
" Who ever is there. I hope you have a good reason do to this."
