The Lost Children

Prologue

Prologue

Oct 27, 2020

In a town far away from the cities lies Ezya. A magic engineering town is known for its beautiful scenery, lakes, and most of all magic weapons, armor, and tools.

A young boy about 5 years old approaches his grandmother.

“Grammy, can you tell me the story of the seven heroes?” He questioned his grandmother.

She turned her gaze from her smith work to her grandson. “If I do, will you let me finish this time?” She asked him irritably.

But, when she looked at his face filled with excitement, she smiled and nodded in response to his request.

She was planning on finishing her spear, but she decided not to for her grandson. She set down her hammer on a worn-down table and grabbed a seat at a table across from her grandson.

The grandmother started, "It all began 1,000 years ago. The world was at peace. Until one day, they came. The Nightmare Race.” She became quiet and gazed upon the moon shining down. After a moment of silence, she continued.

“The Nightmares came over, from their realm. It was chaos. Indescribable things began happening across the world. Domains began appearing that would link our realm to theirs. A terrifying time.” Her gaze shifted once again from the gleaming moon towards her grandson. Usually, at this point, he would be scared.

“It’s okay, I won’t get scared.” The little boy replied to her endearing gaze.

The grandmother smiled and chuckled at his response. They both nodded their heads to gesture to continue.

“And villages would be lost forever. Towns nearby would never be livable again. Large cities are nothing compared to them. Many tried venturing in the domain, but none would ever come back.” She stood up to grab a drink of water. And walked towards her grandson and patted his head.

“Everyone began losing hope. The best mages or even the strongest swordsmen could not deal with the Nightmares. However, with every battle, every clash the world became stronger.” She laughed as she saw her grandson smile.

“The world began getting stronger, although little it was a sure thing. In response, the Nightmares also grew. But, faster. And one day, the Nightmare’s domain grew even larger.” She sighed and took a seat across from her grandson once again.

“Although, the world was growing strong. In the end, we were too slow.”

Silence filled the room. It was not until her grandson had spoken.

“But, but- That's not it, the seven heroes came, right!” The little boy said with anticipation and worry filling his voice.

“Yes, yes. I was about to get there” she said in response, as she began walking around her shop to tidy a bit.

“It was then seven young heroes appeared and ushered the world into a new age. Not only was the Nightmares being suppressed, but even the world began to grow.”

She gestured to her grandson to walk with her out of the shop, after cleaning a bit.

“With the Seven’s arrival, every small aspect of the world changed. Whether it was medicine or technology, it was evolving” as she said that, she pointed towards the light post.

“The first one of the seven shook the world with his smithing and designs. They called him The Vulcan of the Future. It was through his weapons and armor, that the seven would be able to go forward without any hesitation.” She looked away from the lamp post and began walking down the lighted path.

“The second of the seven was unrivaled with her mind. Science and medicine combined with magic jumped through leaps all from her. They called her Minerva of the Heavens.” She said this as she pointed up to the sky.

“The third of the seven was the voice of the people. It's said that her words inspired everyone who would listen. Even her songs would give anyone life. They named her Venus of the people.”

At this point, both of them were at a scenic lookout that faced the town.

“The fourth was a scholar. Second to none to Minerva, but better than her at politics and war. A single swipe of his pen would command an army. Even politics is an ease to this man. They named him The General of Death Pluto.”

They both gazed at the lights of the town until her grandson gestured to continue the story.

“With the four of them alone, they changed society. Mages that were considered rare became the new norm of society. Those who were in slumber awoken and even founded to control mana. Even the understanding of mana was changed drastically.”

The young grandchild looked at his grandmother with excitement and confusion.

“Grammy, how has mana changed?” he asked his grandmother.

“Ah, let's just say the mana and us, humans understand each other.” She smiled as she answered his question.

After answering his question, she gestured to her grandson to sit down on a near bench.

“It’s said, while the four did not fight directly on the battlefield. They fought bravely off the field. Pluto leading armies. Minerva healing each soldier. Venus bringing every single morale up. And Vulcan mending and creating new tools to help.”

"With the four of them supporting them, the last three could fight on the field without worry," she said with an exciting tone.

"The fifth of the seven could wave her sword and could split the ocean. With her time manipulation magic, no one could even touch her. Her sword skills were like a spirit dancing on water. With her magic, she could disappear into the air. They named her: Neptune of the Roaring Seas," she exclaimed.

The young grandson looked at her and asked, "Grammy is she your favorite of the seven?"

She looked at her grandson and laughed, "While she is amazing. She isn't mine. But, don't worry we'll get to that."

She continued, "The sixth of the seven could make a monstrous roar and leave the Nightmare in fear. He was the first on the field and seen to be the last. With a single movement from his staff, the earth would quake. His magic made him invincible and those around him also. It made his enemies shake in fear. They named him: Mars of the Warring Lands."

It was at this point she jumped out of her seat and began yelling.

"The last of the seven could make the heavens cry. He could even make the sky split in half! With a single slash from his spear, the skies would roar in honor of it. His magic could even move the heavens. Thus naming him: Jupiter of the Heavenly Skies."

The young boy could not contain his excitement any longer. He began jumping up and down.

Out of happiness of seeing her grandson so happy, she joined in with him.

The young boy proclaimed, "I know what I want to be in the future now!"

His grandmother looked at him with joy. She asked him what he was going to be. It was then the young grandchild said, "One of the seven heroes."

As he said his remark, up in the starry sky seven shooting stars flash by.

Thus, starting the story of the boy who dreamed of becoming one.
