Camilla wrapped her fingers around the edges of the book’s cover and promptly opened it, barely containing her excitement.
To the uninclined mind, there only exists our world, our planets, and our stars. The more inquisitive mind, however, knows to look much further than that. Some worlds keep to themselves, deciding to stay solitary and only interact for the occasional aligninging, but there are other worlds who’ve decided that the best way to live is together. For past many moons, and many other stars, and many other planets there exists many other worlds.
Just like the pieces of a puzzle connect their squiggly, and oddly shaped edges together to make a beautiful picture, so do the walls and borders of these lands connect themselves to make one great, magical macrocosm. These are the Puzzleworlds. And there are many of them.
There are Puzzleworlds where the sun always shines and families can live together in piece. There are Puzzleworlds that provide the land with great thinkers and even greater inventions. Puzzleworlds where young girls can run barefoot and wild through grass covered forest floors, and Puzzleworlds where leather-cladded young men can ride dust-cloud-kicking buggies through desert wastelands.
Each Puzzleworld lies safe and protected under the rule of their beloved Puzzle Leader; magical beings appointed from on high to protect the lands and provide it with the magic it needs to survive. For flowers to grow, for the sun to shine, for the animals to graze and for the people to thrive, a Puzzle Leader and their magic must stay at the forefront of their land and nurture it with everything they have.
If a Puzzle Leader became unable to use their powers, their realm would fall into ruin leaving nothing but nightmares and desolation where hope once stood. However, as long as the leaders stay healthy and full of magic and love, there will always be a tomorrow where they and their people can hope, and thrive and dream. These are the ways of The Puzzleworlds; so they’ve been, so they’ll always be.
Camilla held the thick, picture book open before her on the desk. She smiled warmly at the beautiful words that matched the loving illustrations on each page.
“Yup”, she sighed. “He’s still got it.”
