It all started a couple of hours ago. I was sitting on my bed waiting for Vannessa Skipp to be ready for her dad’s charity auction. As she comes out, I see she is wearing a tight red dress that looks nice with her dark brown hair on her shoulder.
“Please please please, come with me! I don’t want to go alone!” She’s repeated for the seventh time in a row. “Absolutely not! You know I don't like being in crowded places! Plus, I have a funny feeling about it so maybe you shouldn't go either!” I said agitatedly. This is when Vanessa gave me the answer that gets me every time, “If you have such a funny feeling about it, then maybe you should come with and protect me because there is no way I'm missing this big event.” I think on it since I do have a funny feeling and learned a long time ago that a feeling like this should never be ignored.
I sigh dramatically, “Fine I’ll go, give me five minutes to get ready, we don't want to be late.” Vanessa squealed excitedly, “Finally! You never go anywhere with me, this is gonna be fun!” As Vanessa goes through my closet to find the perfect outfit, as I start to do my hair. I braid through my red hair and turn around to see what I’ll be wearing. Vanessa picked a simple yet elegant green and gold dress. “You always had a better fashion sense than me, I love it.” I tell her and she gives me her radiant smile. That's the funny thing about humans. Their smiles are all different. Each of them is one of a kind. It's my favorite thing about Humanity. “Let’s go! We don't want to be late!” Vanessa practically screams as she bounces out the door, expecting me to follow right behind. I laugh as I go out the door and make sure it's properly locked which Vanessa almost never does.
We run down the paved streets of my little neighborhood. We were only jogging so that we wouldn’t be too exhausted when we got there, especially since it wasn’t that important when we got there.
We made a turn out of my neighborhood and onto the main street. From there we cut through the city's park and then ran out into Vanessa’s neighborhood. I loved it here, all the fancy houses had a great history for them. Some had meaningful backstories. Like Vanessa’s house, it was built in the Victorian era as a gift from Vanessa's cousins to Vanessa’s family. It was to symbolize the end of a long argument between them.
We finally arrived at the Skipp’s house. It was a large picturesque building, gigantic pillars lined up on the sides, little windows with flower baskets hanging out, a big broad door that made royalty jealous. It was a truly beautiful creation, you can tell that every little detail was carefully carved. “Dad! I brought Sophie with me this time!” Vanessa yells out for everyone to hear.
