I lay on my mothers lap while she combed her hand through my hair. The
warmth of the fire on my face in the darkness of the night with only the
light of the fire and the moon shining through the window. I stared at
the reflection of the moon on the marble floor as my mother rocked the
chair back and forth. Back and forth.
“Hey mom?”
“Yes Will?”
“Can you tell me how you and daddy met?”
“But you've already heard it several times before.”
“Yeah, well, I want to hear it again.”
“Okay then, you ready?”
“Yup!”
“Once upon a time:”
There
was a war raging on between two kingdoms, Eldoria and Varaenthia. It
went on so long that the kingdoms began to depend on this war. If one
side won, and the other lost, essentially they both lost. The same if the
war ended in a tie. But if they kept on fighting, they would both
eventually end in ruin. There was no way out, they were stuck.
But
just when everything seemed hopeless, one hero rose who went by the
name of Harold. He was the prince of Eldoria, and he got the craziest
idea that nobody had thought of. He proposed to get engaged to the queen
of Varaenthia's daughter, Seraphina. Of course when he brought the idea
to his father, he was immediately turned down. But after much pleading
and reasoning for this. He finally agreed in desperation for his
kingdom.
And conveniently enough, when
Seraphina and Harold met, they fell in love at first sight. After they
married, they brought both kingdoms together and built a whole new
kingdom named Veldoria and they ruled it together. But instead of the
happily ever after everyone wants, the C major scale stopped at a B♮. A
high ranked noble named Arendor usurped the throne and ruled with greed
and fear.
The “Queen” that had no more
power than a noble, gave birth to a son named Zephyrin. But when
Zephyrin turned 13 He began to glow a great golden light and the ground
shook. That was the day when the dungeon appeared. Nobody knew why the
prince glowed that night until they explored the dungeon and found at
the very entrance, a hand mirror. This was the Infomirror that answered
any question (to a certain extent) as long as they see themselves in
the mirror, asking it.
And sure enough, when
they asked the mirror why their son glowed, it told them that that was
his arisement. When they asked the mirror what that was, it told him that
at that moment he gained his Arising, something that the Ariser excels
in. Arisings can be levelled up, but it is very difficult and very
little people got over level ten. Once somebodies arising passes ten
they get another arising and nobody in history has ever passed two
arisings.
When Zephyrin rose to power and
everyone's kids arose, conflict began to develop in the kingdom. People
believed in different ways of using their power and how the hierarchy
would work. Not long after, the kingdom split in three: Zephyriel was
ruled by Zephyrin, Arendriel was ruled by the second son of Arendor,
Ariel, and finally Sylphareth, was ruled by Sylvaren.
In the kingdom of Arendriel on the same night that Zephyrin turned 13, the first son of Ariel was born.
When the ancient kingdoms of Eldoria and Varaenthia finally stopped their century long war, the peaceful kingdom of Veldoria was born. But not long after, when more and more people started arising, the hierarchy corrupted and different peoples' beliefs split the kingdom into three. The kingdoms of Zephyriel, Sylphareth, and Arendriel, named after their first kings, Zephyrin, Sylvaren, and Arendor. In the kingdom of Arendriel, a boy named Arion was born, But when it was time for his arisment he got the worst fate of all.
