I jumped up and down and screamed with happiness when I opened the odd letter I had received in the mail the previous day. It was pastel yellow with a palm tree stamp on the back, with the words “Vacation Time!” on the back in fancy print. I yanked out the card inside and read the letter the giveaway company had sent me. It read “Congratulations on winning the contest Irene! Attached to this letter are all the precautions and limits on your vacation but other than that, enjoy yourself to the fullest! We have many activities scheduled for you and your three other companions who have also won this trip. Thanks! And we’ll see you on White Tiger Isle soon.” I sighed happily as I flopped down on the couch clutching the letter in my hands. I was so excited to go on this vacation and get away from my trash and boring life in Idaho. My parents never had time for me, and were always busy working for hours every day, just to provide enough money for me and my thirteen year old brother. We lived in a decent house in the center of a small town in Idaho that had everything we could possibly need. My school life wasn't much better. I had always been known as the poor kid whose parents didn’t love her. I hated these rumors because my family wasn’t, like, broke. We just had a lot of needs. I glanced back at my letter and smiled, knowing I could get away from home very soon.
