Skye stumbled upon the giant airship that stood docked in port, and right in her vision of the sunset sky. In a moment of panic, she snuck aboard once the coast was clear and there wasn’t anyone around to notice her. Hiding away in one of the top shelves of the ship’s storage compartment, she kept herself quiet, frozen in fear as she heard footsteps make their way into the room. The female, caramel coated angel dragon had her wings folded over her head and tail wrapped around her legs, trying to make herself stay still…but in a swift moment of adjusting, her tail accidentally bumped into something, making a small clattering noise that caught the figure’s attention. Oops… “..Hello? Is anyone there?” The figure would ask as they looked around, trying to pinpoint where the noise came from. Skye’s eyes widened as she heard them call out of her, her wings gently twitching as she let out a few quiet muffled whimpers and continued to bury her face in her legs. Unfortunately, the figure in the room with her looked up, seeing her tail poking out from behind some of the boxes she hid behind. “...I don’t suppose you want to introduce yourself?” They’d ask. Skye flinched, her eyes closing tightly as she shook her head wildly. She didn’t want to come out of her hiding spot, and only whimpered quietly. "N-no... I- I don't..." She’d respond. Shortly, she hears the figure let out a friendly sounding laugh. “Are you sure? I can’t imagine it’s comfortable for you back there. You can come on out..I promise I won’t hurt ya.” She didn’t sound like she was convinced, as she continued to hug her legs tight while her tail twitched back and forth. "P-please... don't make me..." she said softly. "I- I think I'll stay here..." “You have nothing to be afraid of, though. I promise.” The figure responded, in an attempt to be reassuring. Skye reluctantly shifted her head down to face them, her wings fluttering up and down a little bit as she poked her head out. She’d very quickly notice that the figure wasn’t a dragon at all..but had more of a feline appearance, and was very male-presenting in the way they stood. “I..don’t believe you.” “I mean..that’s to be expected, really. But..what’s it gonna take for you to believe me then?” He’d ask, hoping the way he phrased it wouldn’t scare her too much. She glanced about, refusing to make eye contact as she shivered from fear, but managed to softly utter a few words to the feline below her. “Promise…you won’t hurt me. And won’t send me back home.” His ears perked up to her response. “I won’t. I mean..I assume you’d have stowed away on this ship for a reason.” “Yeah..M-My..family’s..not nice to me..so I ran away..” Skye said softly, her wings slowly fluttering and tail twitching as she continued to hug her legs. “Ah. I’m sorry to hear that, sweetheart. Nobody deserves that kind of treatment. If it helps you feel any less nervous, I can at least attest that you will be treated a lot better here.” Skye sniffled a little bit, her eyes widening a bit as he gave a kind promise to her. "R-really? You...you wont send me away...?" The feline nodded his head, offering his hand to help her down. “Promise.” She was still visibly shaking as he offered his hand, but she nevertheless took it as she carefully climbed down from the shelves. She was roughly the same height as the feline. "T-thank you... I... don’t want to go back..." He’d nod his head, gazing into her eyes in a friendly manner. “You’ve got nothin’ to worry about, dear. Now, would you mind introducing yourself?” Skye sniffled a little, still refusing to make eye contact with him out of fear. “M-My name is..Skye..and you are..?” He smiled at her. “The name’s Tommy. I’m the steward of this airship. I make sure everyone’s cozy and comfortable while they’re aboard.” “Nice..to meet you, Tommy..” She whispered softly, gently wiping the tears from her eyes as she looked at him. “I’m..not going to be a problem for you, am I?” She asked him. “You seem like way too kind of a soul to cause problems. I don’t think that’s something you’ll have to worry about..but for right now, I should take you upstairs to one of our spare cabins so you’ll have a safe place to stay. It's the least I can do.” She looked up at him with a small smile, finally looking at him without being nervous as she took a deep breath. “I-I mean..if you don’t mind..” She whispered to him softly as her tail swayed from side to side. It seemed like, for her, this was a place she really wanted to stay at. Tommy gave her a reassuring smile as he took her hand, guiding her to the cabins one floor above, and led her to an empty room that just happened to be across from his. “Here’s your room, Skye.” Her eyes widened a little more, as she glanced at him curiously. “Are..you sure I’m not..taking anyone’s room?” Tommy nodded his head. “I’m sure! This is just one of our extras…we don’t really use it for anything.” The angel dragon let out a sigh of relief, hugging her tail around herself in comfort. “O-Oh..well, that’s perfect. Thank you, Tommy…” She’d say back, as her eyes started to well up with tears, but quickly wiped them away as she glanced at him with a small smile. “Ah..s-sorry. I get really emotional sometimes…but..I think I’m going to like it here.” Tommy softly laughed. “It’s alright, my dear. I’m glad to hear that though!” Without warning, Skye stepped forward and hugged him tightly as tears started to stream down her cheeks again. “T-Thank you so much..for this..” She whispered to him softly, as her wings gently fluttered. She wasn’t used to anyone being so kind to her, and she was filled with overwhelming amounts of joy and gratitude towards him. She’d feel Tommy purring as he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her in return. “You’re gonna be okay here, I promise. Now just rest up a bit, I’m sure you’re tired from traveling so far. Soon I can introduce you to the Captain and the rest of the crew before dinner.” She gently nuzzled into his face as they continued to hug. “O-Okay…” She whispered softly to him, her eyes slowly closing as she was filled with overwhelming comfort and warmth, feeling safer than she ever had before. Skye seemed to start getting sleepy, drifting off and resting her head on Tommy’s shoulder. Tommy felt her falling asleep, so he lifted her up in a bridal carry position and gently placed her down on the warm bed that awaited her, pulling the blankets over her with a soft smile. “Heh..maybe later.” As Tommy closed the cabin door before leaving, Skye was completely asleep, looking super peaceful as her wings folded inwards and tail wrapped around her legs while she snored quietly. She let out a small, soft purr as she slept, and seemed to be content with her new surroundings, being safe and away from her now former family. Soon, she’d be joining a new family of her own.
