An eighteen-year-old girl stood on top of a grassy cliff, her long blonde hair billowing in the wind behind her. She stared down at a small cheery rural town, hundreds of feet below.
Her clear, bright blue eyes sparkled as she toyed with the buttons on the levi jacket. It traveled down past her black V-neck, all the way down to the dark denim of her jeans.
An array of blues, purples, reds and oranges painted the horizon as the large golden sun slowly descended behind a mountain.
“So,” mused the raven haired girl standing behind her. “what are the plans for this town April?”
The pale girl’s greedy black eyes gazed down upon the town hungrily. Her pale, sallow complexion clashed with the dark colors she was wearing making her look sick.
April’s ruby red lips curled upwards into a lovely smile, a row of perfect teeth showing.
“We’ll proceed with our typical plans my dear Adrian,” she replied. Her smile evaporated, turning into a hideous sneer that crept onto her face., distorting her lawless features.
The thirteen-year-old shivered in anticipation. “So it’s time for me to cleanse them?” Adrian asked.
“Correct,” April replied. “The older ones are in need of a cleaning the most. I can practically taste their sins and impurities form up here.”
She turned around, facing Adrian. “Remember, anyone who still has the rune of virtue on their hands mustn’t be touched or harmed.”
Adrian nodded enthusiastically as she slid the jacket off her shoulders and laid it down on the soft damp grass
Tucked behind her, clinging to every curve of her slender nimble body were a pair of small, slender black feathered wings.
She unfurled them, her wings and feathers began to grow, expanding to the maximum wingspan of eleven feet.
Adrian grinned ravenously. “well then,” she said, walking up to the edge of the cliff. “I’ll be off.”
She turned towards April, saluting, before falling backwards of the cliff. Wings tucked behind her back, she fell headfirst towards the ground.
Just before she hit the ground, Adrian unfurled her wings gracefully, slowly gained altitude, and soared towards the small town through the darkening sky.
April pulled out her cellphone which was held in a yellow glittery case. After dialing the number, the phone was answered.
“Hello? Griffin?” April called into the phone. “It’s me. We’re almost ready to purify the gods.” She paused for a moment, listening to the reply on the other line. April frowned.
“Patience is a virtue Griffin,” she snapped. “and a virtue you obviously lack. I know we don’t have much time, but I’m working on it,” she growled, ending the call abruptly, tucking the phone back into her pocket.
She shrugged off her own jacket, tying it around her waist. The white feathers on her wings glistened in the departing sun.
She unfurled her wings, her wings growing up to 15 feet in length. She began to move them, causing a gust of wind with each flap.
As April began to rise off the ground, she rose without hesitation, and headed towards the town.
