“What in the world?” a pilot asked looking at a radar of the plane, a strange green blip on it when there was nothing for all the eyes to see, before the co-pilot hit a few things as…music was picked up on a radio.
“Hey, ground control…we’re getting a weird interference” the co-pilot said over the radio.
“There’s nothing in your area, are you sure it’s not weather?” the operator at ground control asked
“Pretty sure” the co-pilot said before turning a dial on the radio as the music grew louder, but it wasn’t a normal music, it sounded…almost like a strange choral music, not in any language they knew, nothing that even sounded familiar: it was a weird, echoing and swirling language with a low, thrumming tone to it matched by the intense blizzard that swirled around the plane.
“We’re just cresting the pole, not sure there’s any science outposts out here too” the pilot said before the music suddenly cut out.
“Oh, here it is…there is an old relay tower out there, must have caught a spot of a signal” the operator added.
Meanwhile, on the ground: the snow swirling and twisting along the shelves of ice and the valleys and hills of huge pillowy mounds of snow as the snow swirled and twisted around the base of a large twisted white-red pole with a white orb tip. Through the thick and dark ice downwards…further and further and further downwards before the ice seemed to shift and wrap as northern lights seemed to move, twist and percolate through the ice before the entire world seemed to fade to the background before exploding outwards as the world rippled and twisted then…opened.
The world opened into a massive open landscape: the horizon in all directions adorned with these absolutely massive mountains save for the northern side, covered thickly in huge pillowy wafts of snow that swept to impossibly thick and dense forestry at the foothills, almost an entire sea was visible towards the far north horizon, the churning waves as dark as ink with sheets of clear glass like ice pushing and piling along the heavy, rocky shores of dark stone, but there was barely anything visible except for absolutely massive expanses of snow and forest. However…if you knew where to look, towards that sea, but off to the east a bit, the mountains twist and sweep around the edges of the landscape as this tectonic…city came into view: dark wooden docks and deep stone piers shifting along the edges of the sea where dozens upon dozens of huge ships were moored, the buildings were tall and twisting in a very…strange style and architecture: dark wood and stone with mixed Celtic stylings with ornately carved and decorated archways, pillars and forms, but a large amount of pillars about the city and other structural pieces were painted to appear like candy canes, all of the cords holding signs, banners and various adornments were extravagant looking Christmas lights. Towards the mountain bases however was an absolutely tectonic palace that was built into the shelves and levels of the dark stone mountain, four-five off centered tiers of building: each building handful of so floors of matching dark stone, candy-cane pillars at their corners, huge windows of vibrant colors, awnings covered in a thick blanket of snow and hanging icicles along the roof lines and edges, bright lights along the edges as a few balconies and other pieces adorned the building with a huge central pair of arch-topped doors of dark green wood and gold in an ornate frame of Viktoria and garland. On the third tier off towards the ocean was only about half as wide as the other floors as the other half of the plateau was covered with an extended runway, the structure of the underside thickly encased in ice and snow, lined in bright red cone shaped lights. The top floor looking less factorial and less utilitarian and much more along the lines of a very, very ornate and elegant palace of white stone, dark wood and gold, vibrant strings of lights and other fixtures covering the home with evergreen painted roofing thickly caked in snow.
“Where is she?” a figure asked as he walked from the third building with the runway through a glassy hall before throwing open a huge pair of glass/dark wood doors opening into this phantasmagorical machination of magic and…toys. The far side’s upper half had a glass wall overlooking the…workshop floor showing something along the lines of a stock exchange with a huge map of the world between two large windows with thousands of constantly shifting and changing gold motes of light on the continents, super computers on the sides with long strings of constantly pouring forth ticker tape and people shifting and moving about. The balcony he stood on centered on the back wall seamlessly shifting to the second building which was behind him which were various other matching fixtures and needed buildings and structures of the workshop with just a thin hall leading between the two buildings and off to the left to the runway adorned one.
The figure that rested his hands on the banister of the balcony overlooking the workshop drummed his fingers on the dark wood, he was a very…very tall man with extremely broad shoulders, heavier set with long rough textured white hair in braids and twists to between his shoulders with charms and beads, dark twinkling eyes and a massive beard adorned with matching adornments of charms, beads and trinkets, slightly tanned by the snow reflection with heavily rosy cheeks and nose, dressed in high, heavy dark boots over thick dark trousers, a tucked in dark shirt with striped suspenders, a heavy vest and massive coat of fur in dark red edged in thick, oiled looking brown fur which lined the coat and made the big collar, framed the cuffs and lined the entire coat as it hung to his ankles, adornments of gold in Viking-era patterns adorning the fur and making the embroidery of gold, white and green across the entire coat, a very large dark fur circular hat crested the crown of his skull as he looked out everywhere. The soft jangle of various tools and things on his belt as he looked around for the figure he sought as he shifted a hand to take a small letter out, the paper folded and sealed with a large blue wax seal with a sheen of green overtop…the seal depicting a sea serpent.
