The Wild Side

The Meeting

The Meeting

Aug 01, 2018

As she sat in the dull and damp warehouse, her clothes tattered, marks on her face and arms, Holly thought back to when her life was normal; she went to school and came back, had no friends, didn't do anything exciting. She thought about when she first met the man who introduced her to a whole other world; what started it all, when boy met girl and flame met fuel. It was an unusual meeting.

The sun began to set on the old, Glaswegian buildings as Holly walked home from a long day at school. She walked sleepily along the rough-surfaced streets, looking around at the environment. She often wondered about these buildings, how they used to have people working hard in them, what went on and why God would just leave such lovely architecture to waste away. She was on the path to her home, slowly making her way through the city. As she turned onto the corner of West Street, she saw a figure leaning against a wall, smoking a cigarette. She took no notice of it, continuing along. The man noticed her, looking at her closely. Holly felt a sense of unease, panicking slightly and saying a prayer in her head. The man stood in front of her as she was about to pass, stopping her in her tracks. "Look kid, I know just from looking at you you're one of those snobby private school brats, so just give me your money and we can pretend this never happened." He glared at her, straight-faced. She took a step back, fearing greatly that he'd hurt her. "I... I don't want any trouble..." She said timidly. He sighed, suddenly grabbing her by her blazer and shoving her backwards into the wall. He held the cigarette close to her face, and drew a knife from his pocket. "I won't say it again." She couldn't handle how serious the situation was and started to cry, shaking and reaching for her purse. She opened it, revealing a ten and a five pound note. He stubbed the cigarette very close to her on the wall, the ash tangling with her hair, and grabbed the notes. He turned away angrily at himself, storming off and mumbling. Holly was devastated, bawling as she ran home.

Holly, in the prime of her teenage years, is perfectly happy with her life. As the days go by, she continues to be innocent to the world's problems... At least, until she stands face to face with danger for her first ever time. She manages to leave the event unscathed, physically. But mentally, it changes her life, causing her to lose focus often and ponder about the unknown more and more. One day, she builds up the confidence to speak to the young man, Bodhi, who "changed her outlook" almost completely. Although sceptical at first, he agrees that her life needs a spruce of teenage parties and experiences, and takes her under his wing. She begins to fall more in love with him, and as the story unfolds she may discover that it's easier to come off the rails than it seems.

It's long, but it shouldn't take a massive amount of time to read.

This is NOT finished, but I am currently working on it. Not sure how long I really want it to be, or the full direction that it's going in 100%, but I will in the future.
