Entry 1

Even if I was afraid, I'd do it all over again.

My name is Andrew Greenes, 24, and I work as a security guard at Nexus Corporations. It's now been an entire year since I've been working at Nexus. There's been a lot happening, which is why I'm reaching out to the world.

I started working here years ago, completely unaware of what Nexus was hiding. I needed the money to survive and, most importantly, to help my mother with her medical bills after she beat cancer.

Let me tell you what Nexus Corporations is hiding from all of you.

It was the 24th of December, 2017—just before Christmas. I was three hours into my night shift, the clock reading 1:25 AM. Even if I was too grown-up for it, Christmas was around the corner, and I was so happy. Who was I kidding? Christmas was for everyone.

I was beginning to feel drowsy. Normally, I'd grab a coffee, but the machine was out of order—again. "Not again," I muttered, slapping the top of the machine lightly. Of course, nothing happened.

The security office was small, equipped with a fridge restocked daily for the guards, a red leather couch, and a digital clock on the table. Four monitors were showing different parts of the building, with only one able to switch between various cameras. The fixed cameras covered the cafeteria, the main hallway, and the courtyard.

The courtyard creeped me out the most. It was pitch black, making me wonder—was something standing there, watching me? The thunderstorms made it worse, occasionally illuminating the area for brief seconds.

Feeling drained, I grabbed an energy drink from the fridge. Out of the corner of my eye, I swore I saw something running in the hallways. I shrugged it off—I was just tired.

Bored out of my mind, I called my best friend, Aiden, knowing he'd be awake since he was a night owl.

"What's up, Andrew?" Aiden chuckled, fully aware that I was bored as hell.

"Oh, you know, the usual—checking cameras, going on occasional patrols."

"I'm going for a walk, and you, Aiden, you're coming with me."

"Sure, why not?" he replied, then howled like a wolf.

"Did you have to do that?" I scoffed jokingly.

"Yes, obviously! Someone has to talk to the moon—Awoo!"

Rolling my eyes, I grabbed my flashlight and clipped my walkie-talkie to my belt. I flipped my camera around, securing it in a holster on my chest before stepping into the dimly lit hallway.

The silence was suffocating. The usual hum of the air conditioning, the occasional creaks of old pipes—it was all absent as if the building was holding its breath. My footsteps echoed unnervingly loud against the tiled floor.

"Damn, it's quiet as hell in there," Aiden remarked.

"Tell me about it," I muttered. "Walking these halls at night always gave me chills."

Then—a noise. Soft, deliberate footsteps.

I froze, my pulse hammering in my ears. The sound came from the hallway ahead, just around the corner. I swallowed hard, my grip tightening around my flashlight.

I should turn around and head back to the security office. Forget it.

Instead, I stepped forward.

Something moved in my peripheral vision—a blur, too fast to be human. My breath hitched as my flashlight flickered, plunging the corridor into brief darkness. When the light steadied, the hallway was empty.

My heart pounded.

"Yo, Andrew? Are you good? You went quiet."

I took a shaky breath. "Yeah… Yeah, I'm fine. Probably just my imagination."

Probably.

But deep down, I knew better.

Entry 2:

I turned to go back, but I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. My feet moved faster, my breath shallow with fear.

"Aiden, I gotta go, bye."

The shadows around me twisted, too unnatural to be tricks of the light. The walls felt like they were closing in. Was I losing my mind?

Then I heard it.

A whisper slithered past my ear.

"Hide… in the… janitor's office…"

A cold jolt shot through my veins. My pulse hammered once—then stuttered into silence.

I bolted. My fingers slipped from sweat as I yanked the janitor's office door open, shoving a chair against it. My trembling hands fumbled with the master key.

The elevator doors opened.

Then—gunfire. Terrified screams. A soldier's voice rang out, "Code word: Blackout! Retreat! RETREAT!"

More gunshots. A deafening screech. Soldiers gurgled, suffocating on their blood.

Then—silence.

The creature was gone. I barely made out its form—gray, skeletal, moving on all fours with inhuman speed.

I should've stayed put, but a document on the desk caught my eye.

Project Wraith.

Level 5 Authorization Only.

The document detailed an entity that defied physical and psychological boundaries. Extreme strength, unnatural speed, high intelligence—it adapted to new containment measures disturbingly fast.

My pulse rises, hands shake. The cold sweat on my forehead becomes unbearable. As I fumble with the keys,  a faint sound is audible. But I couldn't care less, the monsters's in the courtyard. time's limited.

Nexus Corporation wasn't just an office building. It was an operation.

I had to get out.

Help

I crept through the blood-soaked hallways. The stench of death was overwhelming. My legs trembled. I tripped—

Fuck.

I hit the ground, instincts screaming at me to play dead.

A screech echoed. Sharp. Unnatural. Too close.

Then—I heard it crawl.

The ceiling was its new hunting ground. My breath hitched. My body locked up.

A sickening crack—its head twisted in a full, unnatural spin.

But it didn't see me.

The second it left, I crawled toward the security office. Two minutes felt like an eternity. I yanked open the door, shoving the couch in front of it—

And then I saw it.

A gun.

The walkie-talkie crackled.

"Anyone there? Hello?"

Panic slammed into me.

The creature screeched, banging against the door.

The food is running out. The creature won't leave. I charged my phone and called 911. Spent my last battery writing this plea for help.

December 31st, 2017, I'm Sorry

Am I going crazy?

I hear my mother's voice. It's soothing. Even if it's the last time.

The door's breaking down. No one survived my rescue.

I hear a second screeching noise.

Am I going insane?

Or is Wraith not alone?

Even if it didn't win—

I cry as my tear drops onto the diary.

The entity is almost inside.

I'm sorry for what I have to do.

To the person who finds this.

God bless your souls.

My grip on the gun tightens.

I'm sorry.

It seems like a tense situation is building up like a coiled snake to strike as you navigate through what seems like a maze, with no clear exit in sight with each progression you make forward. The invisible burden of something heavy weighs down, on you while unspoken dangers hang in the air. Each sideways. Subtle movement caught from the corner of your eye adds to the challenge of distinguishing reality from illusion. Not does the pursuit continue relentlessly. It also draws nearer.
