Bayley felt her smile fall as she returned the phone to its cradle, “You okay chief?” Emmanuel asks as he wipes his feet on the welcome mat.
“Yeah, it's just the Blue River pack. They have a new Beta and she seems to have a bad history with cops,” Bayley sighs, scratching her forehead.
“What kind of history,” Emmanuel asks hesitantly as he steps closer to the chief’s desk.
“She was previously Beta of the Silver Claw pack.”
Emmanuel grimaced, “Isn't that a Sherman District pack?” Bayley nods, standing, “How bad?”
“Bad. She reported that her alpha had proposed a relationship not only with her but with several female alphas before her in an effort to give himself more power, her report was received by their captain. He ignores it. Writes it off as a lonely alpha looking for company,” Bayley spits throwing the reports down on her desk for Emmanuel to see, “He refused to even look at her reports until she was found wandering the streets with a nosebleed. She had a fractured skull, the break caused a bleed in her brain. She could have died,” Bayley almost yells.
“Jesus,” Emmanuel growls, his eyes darkening, “If that were my beta I'd beat his ass. Alpha or not no one has a right to do that to someone for no fucking reason,” Bayley smiles at her friend's anger. She had lived in Peak County for most of her life except for the almost eight years she had spent traveling if that's what you want to call being bounced from one station to another, it had been almost eight years and Emmanuel hadn't changed much still the same loyal man he had always been. “He deserved what she gave him,” Bayley smiles proudly handing Emmanuel the rest of the file.
“Holly shit!” Emmanuel says proudly, “She fucking wrecked him! I haven't even met her yet and I already like her!” he exclaims almost jumping in place, “Almost every bone in his body was broken and his face is fucked up! Oh shit! Is that glass in his-”
“Back. She kicked him out of a second-story window after beating the shit out of him,” Bayley smiles pointing at the picture of the shattered window.
“And she walked halfway to the hospital?” Emmanuel almost whispers, “Strong,” He sniffles willing a tear away.
“Yeah,” Bayley’s smile widens, “How am I going to get her to trust me? A cop. A human. The last-”
“Same way you did me. Love.”
