For Elinora, this was nothing new. From the moment she was born she watched her parents give all their love to her twin brother, Edmund. They wanted a son from the beginning to carry on the bloodline as an heiress.
But God had other plans for them. Instead of giving them what they wanted, he gave them a son and a daughter.
They didn't want her, they considered her useless. So, not wanting to harm her brother's reputation, they locked her in her room. They let her go out into the garden and play with her twin brother, but the rest of the time she was not allowed to go out. No one was to know of her existence.
This was something that neither Elinora nor Edmund, who despite the special treatment she received from their parents, loved and supported his sister, understood. He always stepped forward to protect her when he saw her parents abusing her.
But that abuse only stopped when her parents decided to use her. And that's when Edmund was involved in an accident.
He had just been given the opportunity to work as an aide to the notorious Duke Victor Alaric, the Duke of the North. Their parents were very proud of him, but also terrified of Duke Alaric's reputation.
Unfortunately, however, Edmund did not survive his serious injuries. Unfortunately, he could not be rewarded for the results of his efforts and for what he had worked for.
Everyone was cursed after his death, but something had to be done to keep it quiet. The job of the Duke's assistant had been given to Edmond by order of the Emperor, so they were forced to accept. There was no other choice.
No one had to know that Edmund was dead. And Elinora had to take his place, to save the family's reputation.
Very sad to see one sibling getting the royal treatment, while the other gets nothing!😔 Quite interesting that the parents have to cater to the less favored child.
Elinora is forced to take the place of her twin brother, Edmund, and work as an aide to Duke Alaric, a cruel man living in the North. She disguises herself as a man and travels to the North.
But what she finds in the North was not a cruel man but a cursed man struggling to survive. Seeing herself in him she decides to help him and do her job, but at the same time she makes sure that no one knows that it is not Edmund but Elinora.
