What if you suddenly found out you could die at any moment?
No place to hide.
No safe haven.
Not even a clue if your parents are alive.
And you’re only 18 years old.
The city was burning. Flames swallowed buildings, and thick black smoke choked the sky. I couldn’t understand what was happening. My mind was spinning with questions.
What is this?
Why is it happening?
What should I do?
Where can I go?
So many questions—no answers.
The story begins.
The mall was on fire. A crowd stood outside, frozen in place, watching it burn like it was some kind of nightmare made real. Sirens wailed in the distance. Then suddenly—
A man collapsed onto the pavement.
A bystander rushed over.
“Sir, are you okay?” he asked, kneeling beside him.
The man slowly rose to his feet, his movements stiff and unnatural. A low, guttural sound rumbled from his throat.
“Arrrhh… raaaa… arrrrrrrhhhhh…”
The bystander hesitated. “Sir? Are you okay?” he asked again, fear creeping into his voice.
The man’s entire presence shifted. His eyes rolled back. Muscles tensed. Then—he let out a feral scream.
“GAAAAARRRRRRRRRR!”
He lunged forward, grabbed the bystander’s face, and ripped off his nose with his teeth. Blood sprayed across the pavement. People screamed.
The crowd gasped.
“Oh my God…”
“Did he just—rip his nose off?”
“What the hell is that thing?!”
The attacker turned, eyes wild, and launched himself at another man. This time, several people tackled him to the ground, pinning his arms and legs. Four men struggled to hold him down, but he thrashed like a rabid animal—stronger than anyone should be.
Then something worse happened.
The first victim—the man with the torn nose—suddenly twitched, then stood back up. Blood poured down his face, but his eyes were empty. He turned and sank his teeth into the neck of a girl standing nearby.
Screams erupted.
Panic exploded.
People scattered in every direction, pushing and trampling each other to get away.
GANA
(our protagonist)
“What the hell is going on?!”
He stood frozen, watching the horror unfold. The mall was ablaze. Smoke curled through the air. People ran, stumbled, and screamed around him.
Just ten meters away, a man tackled a woman and bit into her throat, tearing it open like it was nothing. Blood sprayed across the concrete.
Gana’s legs trembled. His body shook. Sweat poured down his face. He wanted to run—but he couldn’t move. He was frozen in fear.
He’d never seen anything like this. No movie, no game, no nightmare could compare to what he was witnessing.
A human being—eating another human being.
GANA
(whispers)
“What the hell are those things…? I—I need to get out of here.”
Without thinking, he bolted—running with the crowd into the burning mall, not realizing that the chaos inside was even worse.
Water from the sprinklers poured from the ceiling.
The alarm wailed like a banshee.
Everything was wet, slippery, and filled with panic.
People were no longer just running.
They were fighting.
Killing.
Turning on each other like animals.
And this…
was only the beginning
GANA reaches the second floor when suddenly a man falls in the middle of the mall. He is not dead. He slowly stands up, looks at GANA and roars loudly. People are running here and there to save their lives. If someone falls, people are climbing on him, whether he is a boy, a girl or a child.
