In the time of magic and when mythical creatures such as mermaids and Cecaelias still existed, there was peace and oneness between humans and the sea creatures.
The mermaids and Cecaelias lived in an ocean called 'Atlantis'. They had the power to shift into the full human form, so they visited dry lands anytime they wanted.
Magic was limited to the ocean and it's creatures, so humans didn't have the same leverage to visit the deep of the Atlantis ocean like they would have wanted. They could only go deep in the ocean through the use of submarines, but even those vehicles couldn't go that far into the ocean. It was either it ran out of fuel, or the oxygen wouldn't be sufficient for the humans to keep going.
There was a time when five crazy oceanographers went deep in the oceans. They were adamant to find the the home of the merpeople and cecaelias that they even ignored the danger signs when the fuel was exhausted.
Their risk paid off and they were the first five humans to ever see Atlantica - The home of the sea creatures.
They were able to take pictures of their discovery but their risk would have been for nothing if not for the mermaids that had saved them when the submersible eventually ran out of fuel and began to drown.
The pictures went viral and the oceanographers gained popularity all over the world. They were praised for giving others the opportunity to at least see the home of the merpeople and Cecaelias.
But not everyone was satisfied with just a picture. The sea creatures could roam freely on dry land and humans were busy rejoicing because they only got to see ordinary pictures? They didn't see that to be fair in anyway. They wanted the same advantage the sea creatures had. They wanted the one thing that only the sea creatures had in their control - MAGIC.
A group of people who had the same thoughts about the issue decided to come together as one and back up their dissatisfaction with some action, and they came up with a plan which they thought was very brilliant.
In the ocean, the key source of magic was pearls. There was a place in Atlantica that looked similar to caves on dry land and they called it 'the cave of pearls'. Just like its name implied, it was indeed a cave of pearls.
There were hundreds of thousands, if not millions of white pearls in the cave and they were all magical. Once a mermaid or Cecaelia was born, a pearl would glow in the cave and immediately find its way to its owner.
The pearls was what provided them the ability to get legs. It also gave them the power to heal themselves. It could also come with a bonus power, depending on how powerful the pearl was. The ones with the most powerful pearls were usually from the royal bloodline.
The most powerful is the ruler which would be chosen by the sacred scepter. The ruler, whether it be a king or queen gets to wield the powers of the scepter together with their own pearl.
The scepter had the power to sting, control the waters and many more that the ruler sets his or her mind to do.
The power to rule was shifted equally between the cecaelias and the merpeople. If a merfolk king or queen dies, then the next to rule would be a cecaelia, but at a time, the scepter chose a ruler from the merfolks three consecutive times and most of the cecaelias found it to be unfair.
The plan of the dissatisfied humans was to use the jealousy that some of the cacaelias had towards the merfolks to their own advantage.
They met up with some cecaelias and made them see reasons to believe that the merfolks must have somehow tampered with the scepter in order for them to keep ruling over Atlantica and that their next target would be to take over dry land, thereby ruling over the whole world.
The cecaelias were blinded by their greed for power and decided to help the humans to execute their plan. The plan was for the cecaelias to help find a way for the humans to be able to breath underwater, and after the cecaelias tried everything they could think of, they finally decided to do that which was forbidden and had unknown consequences.
The cecaelias released their pearls and had the humans cut themselves. When the pearls came in contact with the blood of the humans, the once white pearls turned red and they recognized the humans as their new owners. That was how the humans transformed into cecaelias and together with the real cecaelias, they headed straight into the ocean for Atlantica.
While all these were going on, Aegeus, the supposed king of Atlantica was oblivious of what was happening. He was somewhere on land with his lover.
Aegeus was chosen to rule at a young age, so he saw it as a burden that prevented him from enjoying his youth. He spent more time on land than he did in his own kingdom.
His lover was a human, so they kept their relationship a secret. Although humans and the sea creatures weren't enemies, it was still forbidden for them to have a consensual relationship. It was even forbidden for cecaelias and mermaids, despite the fact that they lived in the same kingdom.
Aegeus' lover was a popular actress named Celine. Her popularity was almost close to being worldwide and still, she was ready to risk losing everything just for the forbidden love she shared with the king.
They had already gone really deep into their relationship to the extent of doing the forbidden act. Celine got pregnant and had to live in hiding because of her image as a public figure. She even cut off any means through which her family could contact her.
Aegeus got Celine to stay in a village which was close to the ocean. The people in the village were poor and couldn't afford Tv, so they didn't have to worry about anyone recognizing her.
Her pregnancy was already due for delivery at the time when the rebellion was about to take place in the ocean.
….
Back to the ocean, the cecaelias led the humans to Atlantica and snuck into the cave of pearls after getting rid of the guards. The humans cut themselves and let the pearls absorb their blood. They did so to so many pearls till they were satisfied. The cecaelias did the same, but the pearls didn't react to their blood.
The humans became the ones with the upper hand as the pearls were in their control, while the cecaelias led the way without any powers of their own, but they still chose to believe that the humans wouldn't betray them.
Their next destination was the kings chambers which was where the scepter was kept. Why would the king leave his scepter behind, you say? Well, the scepter only recognizes the wielder and if it is touched by anyone else without the permission of the wielder, it would sting that person. The worst result of being stung by the scepter is death, so they planned to subdue the power of the scepter with the power of the hundreds of pearls that they had in their control.
The blood of the humans made the pearls a little more powerful than normal, so it was easy for them to get rid of the merfolks and loyal cecaelias that got in their way, but something suddenly happened.
The humans started transforming into something else. They looked like bloodthirsty monsters with no definite form, but they all had claws and sharp teeth. That was the unknown consequence of what they did with the pearls.
They started killing the merfolks and Cecaelias with ease, including the cecaelias that had brought them into the ocean. It all ended with the remaining merfolks fleeing for their lives.
When the monsters noticed that there were no sea creatures in sight, they headed straight for dry land. They ravaged the lands, destroying anything and anyone in sight.
….
Celine was in labor and Aegeus didn't know what to do. Calling a stranger to help might not be a good idea as they themselves weren't sure of what would come out of her.
At the end, Celine's safety was what was most important to Aegeus, so he called on the village midwife to help Celine with the delivery.
Celine pushed successfully and a human baby boy came out. Aegeus was relieved, but it was cut short. It turned out that there was a second one. Celine pushed once again and this time around, another boy came out. He looked very identical to the first one, the only difference was that he didn't have legs, he had a fish tail.
It wasn't up to a minute after the baby merman was born that a glowing white pearl appeared and began floating above his head.
The midwife was shocked but didn't have time to react as the sound of chaos was heard from outside. The monsters had reached the village and were destroying everything.
Aegeus made sure Celine and the twins were safe before going to the ocean. He changed back to his merman form and swam to the middle of the ocean with his head above the waters. He raised his hand up in the air and the scepter appeared, glowing brightly.
All the surviving sea creatures felt the power of the scepter and came to the surface, surrounding their king. They all silently prayed and the scepter released magical waves, almost like an explosion, which went east, west, north and south.
The pearls that had entered the humans immediately left them and appeared in the middle of the ocean, surrounding the merfolks. The red glow of the pearls slowly disappeared and turned back to normal. As the pearls turned back to normal, the monsters who were once humans turned to ashes.
Meanwhile, the humans that had seen the monsters coming from the ocean, already spread news around that the monsters were created by the sea creatures in order to end the human race.
Humans from all over the world were angered by this and decided to end the sea creatures before they ended them. They ruthlessly killed every sea creature that they found on land at that time.
Then the military took it as their duty to attack the ocean. They used bombs, grenades, chemicals and basically anything they could think of.
Aegeus protected his subjects with the power of the scepter, but he couldn't have the humans keep on attacking the ocean so he let the scepter do as it pleased.
The scepter shone brightly and the attack finally stopped. It had brainwashed the humans into thinking that they had succeeded in killing all sea creatures.
Celine was still in hiding with the twins and had even decided on the names for the twins. She named the first one 'Luca' and the other, Axle.
Things happened and that night, she had to release Axle to Aegeus and took Luca with her. But before that, Augeus gave the twins one bracelet each. Axle's name was written on Luca's bracelet, while Luca's name was written on Axle's.
Celine returned back to her family, keeping everything that had happened in the past nine months in the dark no matter how many times she was asked.
