Lilly spends hours aimlessly wandering the library, looking for something new to read, she can't come across anything until she sees a section of books all about magic and spells. She has long been fascinated with it, and decides to rent most of the books in the section. She runs home, goes to her office in the basement and closes the door.

She dives into all the stories, myths and spells in the books, her face is lit up like a little kid as she discovers all the things she has long had a fascination with.

After nearly 2 hours of reading through, she comes across one that she feels she can try, and it won't do any harm. She lights a bunch of candles and sits in the middle of the floor. She goes through the entire process, but nothing seems to happen, so she keeps repeating it, over and over, and over, for 45 minutes. Finally, the light bulb above her head shatters, the candles all blow out, and everything in the room begins falling to the floor, her laptop is smashed to pieces. She sits with a concerned look, and then she feels the immense pressure on her chest and struggles to breathe. Her clothes are all ripped away from her body and seem to disintegrate. The room becomes ice cold, and she can't handle it, her naked body slowly crawls to the door, but the handle is stuck and it won't open.

As she turns back, she sees a large black cloud, almost like someone was on fire, but this cloud seems to have a life of its own. It moves and seems to fall to the ground right on top of her. Her body begins contorting violently, some of her bones crack, and others even burst through her skin, she screams in agony, as she is whipped around the room. Her eyes pop out of her head and black ooze begins running down her face from her eye sockets and from her mouth.

Finally, after over an hour of chaos, everything stops, she lays on the floor, naked, looking at the ceiling, and now her body seems to be fine ... Except for the strange discoloration of her skin, and what look like black spots all over. She looks in a small mirror and screams in disbelief, her face is pale white, her body is all discolored, and she has some black ooze running down her face. On her torso the letters 'BD' are burned into her skin.

Suddenly she hears a knock at the front door, it's her neighbour Dave.

DAVE: Lilly, are you okay? ... I heard some crashing and banging and screaming.

Dave slowly lets himself in, and walks to the kitchen, and as he does he comes face to face with what used to be Lilly.

DAVE: Lilly, what happened?

A deep and haunted voice comes from the body of Lilly.

LILLY: The one you knew as Lilly is no more ... She decided to invite us into her life, and now we are in control ... We are known as ...THE BLACK DEATH!

Dave tries to run, but it caught. She grabs him by the throat, her fingers slowly begin to dig into his neck, into his jugular, until blood is squirting everywhere in the kitchen, as his lifeless body hangs in her hands, she rips his head off.

LILLY: So sorry Dave .... It was nice to know you!

She slowly makes her way outside, and all the neighbours sitting outside look on in confusion, and as they try to approach her to help, they are slaughtered one by one, she rips out their hearts, pulls off limbs, and even rips out their jugular with her teeth. The street quickly becomes covered in blood and bodies, as the vessel once known as Lilly makes her way down the street.

The local police soon arrive, and as they surround Lilly with guns drawn, she kneels and touches the ground, and black tentacles come up through the cement and impale all the officers.

Her boyfriend, Jake, arrives, and runs down to the basement, and he quickly sees the book she had open, and what she has done, and begins frantically looking for how to reverse it.

JAKE: They call it The Black Death, and once it is unleashed, it can't be undone. Eventually the host will die, and The Black Death will go dormant again.

Jakes slowly creeps around outside, hoping to avoid being seen. He manages to grab one of the officers guns as protection. He comes out in the middle of the neighbourhood.

JAKE: Lilly, I know part of you can hear me, I know you just wanted to try something, but you caused a dark entity to be unleashed.

She turns and sees him, and begins walks towards him, and as she gets close enough, he points the gun at her. She palms the gun with her hand, and seems to disable it. It falls to the ground, and Lilly grabs Jake by the throat.

LILLY: Hope you are ready to meet your end little one!

The neighbours looking on begin vomiting, as Lilly puts her hand all the way through his chest cavity, his blood and guts spill out onto the road as the lifeless body falls over.

As Lilly stands there, a strange feeling comes over her, she falls to her knees and eventually to her back, laying on the road, her body shakes and contorts , and then she remains still. The same black cloud from earlier seems to evaporate into the skies.

More officers arrive and surround Lilly, who shockingly, wakes up, but has no idea what happened.

OFFICER: Lilly Stevenson, you are under arrest!

LILLY: What? ...Why?

They pull her to her feet and make her look around, and she sees all the carnage, and sees her boyfriend with a hole through his chest.

OFFICER: Whatever you unleashed in that basement did all this.

Lilly is handcuffed and taken away, as the entire neighbourhood becomes a crime scene. In the weeks leading to her trial, phone videos emerge of Lilly savagely killing everyone in sight, and nobody can figure out what exactly The Black Death is. The defense for Lilly plans to use it to get her acquitted.

After a 2 month trial, Lilly Stevenson is found guilty of a long, long list of charges. The Judge and jury remain mystified by The Black Death, but Lilly is still held accountable.

Lilly begins her life in a small containment cell, only 25 minutes of free time allowed, in the basement of a prison, with every camera pointed at her cell, and armed guards all around. She is denied access to any books of any kind.

1 YEAR LATER:

As she sits in her cell, a newspaper is placed under the door of her cell. She slowly gets up and looks at the front page.

LILLY: Local teens summon The Black Death again, more carnage and bloodshed in nearby town; authorities do not understand what is happening; Have called in Occult Investigators.

Lilly drops the paper, and goes back to sleep.
