A flash of pink hair rounded about the corner. I stared into the distance, looking for any sign of the man I just saw. Nothing. After a long bit of hiding, I lifted up and gripped my dagger tightly. I held it close to my stomach and cautiously scouted the area. It seemed that nothing and no one was there. I was safe for a slight moment. I brushed the dirt off my pants and hurried in the same direction as the strange man. My home was now a deserted wasteland where people were literally wasting away. It pained me to see such a beautiful city turn so.. Ugly. Distorted. Everything lacked color. I hurried down an alley filled with beggars and the sick. My heart lurched, but I had to find the whereabouts of this man. Any contact outside this city could prove useful. No one left here, no one came here. Until now, it seemed. My lungs felt tight and I was practically gasping for air as I ran towards the familiar figure just a few feet ahead of me. "Wait," I called to him. The man did not stop. I pushed forward with every ounce of strength I had left. I grabbed a hold of his shoulder. "Please wait." I said, trying to catch my breath. It seemed like he paid little mind to me. His expensive garments and jewelry and his groomed look gave me the impression he was a noble of some sort. My hand slipped off his shoulder and I looked deeply into his eyes. He gave me a discerning look. "You're not like the others, are you?" He asked me, his cool voice reverberating through me. "What.." I didn't know what to say. "Everyone in this town are beggars or diseased with some sickness. Yet here you are, healthy and standing up to a noble." The man turned to face me completely. "What is your business here?" I asked. "Nothing that concerns you." He spoke coldly. "I..need to get out of here. There aren't any ways out.. how did you get in?" I asked, my voice shaky. The man was silent, then finally said, "Come with me."
