To Kill a Nightingale (BOYLOVE)

And So A Villain He Became

And So A Villain He Became

Mar 05, 2022

~ Circa Modern Year 2036 ~

Amongst the royalty of the Kingdom of England, one royal was particularly popular and favored throughout the land. For this noble was the dashing Prince Felix Morias Nightingale! With an appearance to swoon over and words as sweet as the smoothest honey, no one dared to disagree with his presence.

However, his striking looks alone weren't what deemed him so admirable. No, Felix was a fair royal in this classist world. To the astonishment of many, he deviated from the arrogant and selfish stereotype the upper-class citizens were rightly assigned.

The Prince often participated in charity events, and he earnestly gave his money freely to those in need. Felix didn't dare bat an eye at those below him in status, and being the prince, that consisted of almost everyone.

His only reasoning for this behavior was that "All people are equal. So why treat anyone differently?"

Innocent naivety still struck his mind, even at his mature age of 26. He knew this, but he also felt it possible to live in a world where one's economic status didn't classify the type of person they were.

The love the Prince held for the people of his country was so profuse, it became hard to contain it all. He was willing to go to great lengths to stand by those that he loved!

Being the second eldest son of King Fergelon, Prince Felix was only destined to inherit the throne fourteen years from now if his eldest brother Finnely couldn't assume the responsibility of being King.

That fact remained true until…the incident that shook the nation.

The kind and generous Prince Felix committed murder?! How could this be! The exclamations were rumored everywhere, and they bounced off of walls that should have remained silent.

No one could fathom a justifiable reason behind Felix's actions in brutally killing the fourth seat of the capital, Henry Daniel Abbot.

In their land, the class system was as follows:

Most would assume that the royal family would be held in high regard at the top of the class chain, and they certainly were. But above them was the capital. This group of noble dictators consisted of twelve members, always twelve and never less, and they were the true head of the country, despite what some believed.

With the military underneath their direct control, these members had the power to influence, no, command the country at their will. Everyone, even the King, swung their tails between their legs while in their presence.

And because of this surprising fact, everyone was too blinded by the death of the fourth seat rather than the actions that led him to his demise. As much as Felix admired his beloved country, he was aware that it was plagued by the class system. Those at the top would exploit, abuse…murder, those at the bottom for their own benefit and the military would simply shrug it off.

The Prince wasn't a violent person, and he never once had to resort to such means. But what he encountered one horrid night threw his contained anger over the edge.

On the common streets where he roamed often to lend a helping hand, from a mysterious alley came muffled whimpering.

It could have been a prostitute, but Felix's intuition insisted something more was going on, and so curiously, he decided to investigate. He strayed from his usual path and continued down the alley instead. The sight that cursed his vision made his knees unbearably weak.

Underneath a man, lay a naked woman who was no longer breathing. Instead of being covered by clothing, she was covered in her own blood, her slit throat being the clear justification of that matter.

Felix did his best to shield his eyes from the young woman, but he couldn't simply ignore the half-clothed man, like an animal, still pumping in her.

With sullen anger racing through his veins to his feet, Felix used the sharp heel of his boot to kick the man's neck in. But the present snap heard wasn't enough to satisfy the revenge he felt he should seek.

The man, who hadn't seen the Prince coming, turned around, painfully and awestruck.

The Prince's eyes widened upon seeing the supposedly diligent man. It appeared members of the capital were also willing to resort to such heinous means. That only meant that even they couldn't be trusted.

"Your highness! What are you doing?!" He inquired angrily, and he cupped his pain-stricken neck for support.

The Prince presented an oblivious tone, "What? Is it so unusual for me to stop a wrongful act in its course?"

Before he could act as he wanted, he removed his light sweater and covered the body of the poor woman. She couldn't have been older than the Prince himself and because of that, he felt even more inclined to exact revenge.

"May your soul rest in peace." He whispered gracefully above her.

His usual kind eyes resorted to malice, and he only had one intention in mind: an eye for an eye, blood for blood.

"May I see your blade, sir?" He requested.

The man's eyes widened in fearful awe, but he continued with the high and mighty act. "You dare ask me such a thing?!"

Felix didn't give a response, and he contained a hysterical laugh due to the fact that the man felt he was in power to disobey. Because though the capital held the royal family in its clutches, at this moment, the man was alone. No members by his side and no military for him to command.

Only a weak bird in front of a roaring and…very hungry lion. Seeing his reaction alter in fear gave the Prince a bit of the satisfaction he was looking for.

Felix slipped his own blade from its leather holster behind his back, and his sudden movement convinced the man to lower his head to the ground.

"Please, your highness, spare me. I will say nothing of this matter to anyone else! This woman, she-she was a simple whore! Nothing more than tha-"

One.

Bloody coughs exited the man as the reflective blade entered his back.

Two.

Crimson tears escaped his eyes as his stomach also felt the sharp blow.

Three.

A beating heart was no longer present in the man's chest as it was punctured by the sharpened end of the silver. But even that wasn't enough.

Four. Five. Six…Seventeen. Only then, when the man was unrecognizable was the Prince satisfied. But he knew this action of his couldn't bring the woman back.

After admitting his sin to the police, he hadn't nearly expected to be deemed a murderer across the land, and he was charged for the murder of the woman as well. How heinous! Has anyone known the Prince to do such a dreadful thing?

He would never harm an innocent civilian, let alone a woman. And yet, he had fallen victim to the blame and brought shame upon his family name.

If he were a blood relative to the royal family, then perhaps his life could have been spared. But since he was taken in from poverty with his mother, no noble, officer, or military official felt the obligation to take his side.

After all, he still had dirty commoner's blood pumping through his veins.

From that incident on, the Prince had made it his life goal to rid the capital of their military power and somehow divide it equally amongst the people of the land. Everyone needed to have equal standing.

And after learning the demolishing scheme the capital had, he had to find a way to put an end to their plans before they began.

Before innocent blood was shed.

The angel everyone gave their hearts to, fell from the heavens and where he landed was beneath the earth. Hell, in the chaos he created and now…he was going to drag every immoral noble to the heated depth with him.
