Gold hair flows in the wind of an open train cart. Far above the bustling metropolis was rails for public transport. Even though it was mid day, the city below emitted a glow that can be seen even now. The woman with the golden hair looks at her watch as the train slowly comes to a stop. The doors open as soon as the cart comes to a full stop, letting the woman walk out at a fast pace. Lots of Apartment complexes rest far above the city, making it look as large pillars rise from the ground below. The woman makes her way to a nearby apartment complex. From there, she finds a plate with the tenant's names and apartment numbers. Many are scratched out and replaced with sleeves of paper with new names written on them. The woman fingers the names on the plates until she stumbles on the one she is looking for. With a tap on the apartment number, she walks to the elevator nearby and presses the button for the 16th floor. The elevator has a window looking into the center plaza that the apartments nest around. Comparing the view and the woman, it's clear she’s not from around here. The plaza is rather messy and dirty, the surrounding area is not well maintained. People can be seen on benches below taking some sort of new street drug as they sit watching the televisions all over broadcast some sick entertainment. The woman looks in disgust as she adjusts her suit. The suit is of a beautiful white that has never been tainted before. It looks as if she is an angel in some sort of hell.
The elevator doors open to the 16th floor. The woman steps out and continues down the filthy hallway till she finds apartment 1643. “How can someone live in a place like this?” She mutters to herself before knocking on the door. Shuffling can be heard past the door before some aggressive unlocking of a dead bolt. The door then swings open. “Look, I told you I will get rent to you in a few days, I just need some time.” Another woman answers the door before she realizes that the person in front of her was not the one she was thinking of. “Oh shit i'm sorry, thought you were someone else. How can I help you?” The woman in the door eyes the women at her door, Noticing her clean and fancy clothing. “You’re Miss Saturnine correct?” The woman in the door nods to the other’s question. “We have a job opportunity for you Miss Saturnine, since you just lost your old one.”
Saturnine looks confused at the woman's statement about her losing her job. “How did you know that?” “We have our ways, Miss Saturnine. Now I would like to speak privately inside about this job opportunity we have for you. Saturnine scratches her short white hair before accepting the forceful invitation. “Well like you said, I am in need of a job.” Saturnine opens the door to her apartment and gestures to the woman to come inside. As Saturnine closes the door, gunshots can be heard in the distance outside.
Saturnine leads the woman to the living room where a table and two chairs sit. Both take a seat respectively. “So can I get a name, random lady who showed up at my door?” The woman pulls a card from inside of her suit's chest pocket and slides it on the table towards Saturnine “The name is Riley Fujimura, I work with the Mooncell Corporation.” Saturnine grabs the card along with her round glasses, unfolding them and placing them on her dainty nose before reading the card to herself. “You may have heard of us with our recent project Miss Saturnine.” “Please just call me Teruko, not many people call me by my last name.” “As you know, the Mooncell Corporation has started construction on a colony in space, to be specific, on the moon.” The table both Teruko and Riley sit at is facing the apartment's main window that peers into the sky. Teruko points towards the moon that is visible in the light blue sky. “It's hard to miss all the cargo ships flying there and back, so yeah I do know about your little project.” “You may also know the Earth is running out of resources. Wars are already starting to break out for what little is left to grab. The reason the Mooncell Corporation has started this project is to save humanity from itself. Soon the world will become a forever raging battlefield. Humanity is going to fall.” “So what do you all want with me?” Teruko taps on the table waiting to hear the exact reason. “The Mooncell Corporation wants to make a new home for humans when the earth falls, and it may take some time before that may happen. The first facility that is currently being built on the moon is a lab to store what we call ample humans until we are able to sustain a large amount of people on the moon. So in the meantime, the Mooncell Corporation is looking to make Cryostasis Chambers for residents to stay in.”
Teruko stops tapping the table and looks at Riley before shrugging her off. “I’ve dabbled in cryogenic technology before, but I'm no expert in that field, I don't know why you would want me.” “We actually want you for a different reason.” “Oh? You’ve peaked my interest. What is the reason then?” “We want you to create a simulation of some sort. To test the people in the cryostasis of their skills so we can fit them into the new society we will make on the moon.” As soon as Riley said simulation, Teruko’s eyes widened and she shot up in excitement. “Oh now you got me! So I can make a simulation of anything I want?!” “Of course there are some things to follow but you will be the head of the Simulation team because of your experience and expertise in the field.” Teruko sits back down and stares down Riley. “Then you must know about my old secret jobs then huh?” “Mooncell always finds out about everything. Nothing is secret with us.” Teruko sits back down in her chair. Riley fetches a paper and pen from her carry bag and places it in front of Teruko. “Now will you accept this job offer, Miss Teruko Saturnine?” Teruko grabs the pen and shifts her gaze downward towards the paper. There is a big space for a signature at the bottom, and Teruko signs it without reading the rest. “I'm in!” Riley takes the pen and paper back from Teruko and slides it away in an envelope. “Great, you will start tomorrow. Just go to the address on that card I gave you and I will start filling you in when you get there.” Riley rises from her seat and heads towards the front door. “I will be in touch, Miss Saturnine.” Before Teruko can say anything to Riley, She has already left the apartment. Teruko gets up once again and jumps around in glee, giggling to herself. “I'm gonna have food again, and be able to pay rent!” She continues to jump up and down, easily annoying her downstairs neighbors that are most likely rotting away in their apartments. After all, the world is falling apart.
