Look, if I had known that I was crossing dangerous territory by sitting at their table I wouldn't have done it, or maybe I would have? All I knew is that I was new desperate and incredibly stupid.

I'm Ash Castillo and I recently moved here. I am a well known female soccer player that has been scouted multiple times by different universities. When I moved here I realized that this school did not have an all-girls soccer team. That was horrible, and extremely bad news. Soccer was practically my ticket to Uni and if I didn't have a team then it meant no scholarship. Because no matter who you are you have to be playing with a team for you to be scouted. At first, I panicked, but then a horrible idea struck me that I should have never let cross the border of my mind. What if...

I walked determinedly into the cafeteria a plan forming in my head, a stupid one at that, but still a plan. With an inkling of doubt, I walked over to the 'table' and said the first thing that came to mind,
"Scoot."
-
Let me clarify, the 'table' as everyone in this school calls it is a table that carries 5 people, Nicholas Eaton the Bad-boy, Chase Turner the Prince Charming, Juan Guiterrez the Jokester, Josh Park the Shy, and Zachariah Carter the Kind, yes, that is exactly how they were all described, as well as 'awesomely hot' which is about as far as some, directly pointing at the 'Popular Girls', of the girls at this schools vocabulary goes. They were all in the soccer team and Nicholas was the Captain. Apparently, they don't sit with the others of the team because they were close friends beforehand and pushed everyone else away.
-
Immediately when I said those words I regretted them. I watched their dumbfounded faces and heard as the rest of the cafeteria lapsed into silence.
"Excuse me?" Juan asked staring incredulously at me. After a moment I decided to play 'that' card. The 'I'm-new-and-I-do-not-know-who-you-are.' card. I smiled sweetly.
"Are you deaf?" I asked raising my eyebrows, "Or is your vocabulary so limited that you can't understand a simple command like 'scoot'?" He continued to stare at me, I sighed dumbfounded, "Scoot means Move." I said slowly as if I was explaining it to a kindergartner.
"I know what it means," he said quickly. "I just thought you were-" But he was cut off by Chase,
"Hey Princess, come with me, we can leave this extremely ugly boy and you can hang out with me." He said. I could, of course, see the double meaning in his words. Juan spluttered before turning back to me,
"You can hang out with me instead," he said. I groaned, rolling my eyes. These idiots. I held my tray with one hand and pushed Juan to the side and sat down.
"Thank you. Was that so hard?" I said. "NOTHING TO SEE HERE GO BACK TO DOING WHATEVER NEOLITHIC THINGS YOU HAVE PLANNED!" I yelled as everyone went back to eating after sending me questioning glances.
"Wait, so why are you here?" Josh asked curiously.
"Yeah, we thought, well, um, that you were going to, er-" Zachariah began.
"What he means to say, we thought that you were going to ask us out, or flirt with us or-"Juan cut himself off and looked at me curiously, as well as the others, also the whole cafeteria who had not listened to my simple outburst.
"Well,-" I began before I was, rudely may I add, interrupted by a slam of the cafeteria doors. Hushed whispers were heard throughout the cafeteria as he walked in. Nicholas Eaton, that so-called bad/playboy. He came over to the 'Table'. When he saw me shock ran over his face before immediately being replaced with a poker face, which by the way I hate, and he walked over to the table sat down and the angrily asked,
"What is this?" resentment cutting through his calm tone.
"Excuse me, I'm a person, not an object and for your information, I come here regarding the soccer team. I want to join." I said angrily staring at him. A collected gasp was heard through the cafeteria.
"You want to... join?" Zachariah asked confused.
"The Soccer team?" Juan continued staring at me as if I was some kind of alien.
"Yes." I sighed. These idiots. Surely they can't be that stupid.
"You mean the Cheerleading team right? They sit there, you would fit right in, you have a nice body." Nicholas said looking me up and down. What did he just say?
"You sexist pig. I ca-" I shouted before he cut me off.
"I'm sorry, can you shut up? You're hurting my ears," he said smirking. *Ha ha ha* (deranged laughing inside). I saw red and I agree with myself, I did something kind of stupid. I stood up right in front of him and he looked down lazily his eyebrow raised. Then I slapped him, hard, across the face.
"Don't you ever tell me what to do Nicholas Eaton, because mind you, I will not listen or tolerate your pathetic behaviour. Grow up, before speaking to me again." I said harshly before grabbing my backpack and leaving the cafeteria, behind me in complete silence. Nicholas stared after me with a dumb expression on his face before slowly sitting down.

At the 'Table'.
"Dude, why did you say that?" Zachariah said leaning across the table. Nicholas shrugged,
"She's feisty," he said smiling.
"I'm going to go after her," Juan said standing up.
"What? Why?" Chase asked looking at Juan.
"To tell her that she can go to Coach and ask if she can join," Juan said looking at them as if it was the most obvious thing in the world before running after her.
"Don't Ju-, he's gone," Nicholas said grumpily.
"Why can't she join? It's not like Coach will say no." Josh asked looking curiously at Nicholas.
"She's a girl! She probably has no experience in football and won't take it seriously." Nicholas said slamming his fist on the table, "and Coach will let her in because he's a softie and it'll bring down our entire team!" he finished, fuming.
"But, what if she doesn't?" Josh asked. Those words stuck with Nicholas for the rest of the day. All, the 'What if this-' 'What if that-'.
