I woke up with a groan, the familiar ache of a hangover throbbing in my temples. The fluorescent lights of my cramped apartment seemed to mock me, their harsh glow illuminating the clutter of empty takeout containers and unfinished projects. Another Monday. Another dreadful day of work.
I stumbled over to the kitchen, the only room in my apartment that offered any semblance of comfort. As I poured myself a glass of water, I couldn't help but think about how much I hated my life. The dead-end job, the lack of social life, the constant feeling of being trapped. It was like I was stuck in a never-ending cycle of monotony.
I glanced out the window, the cityscape of Seoul stretching out before me. It was a beautiful city, but it felt so distant, so out of reach. I was just a small cog in a massive machine, a nameless face in the crowd.
As I sat down at my desk to start my day, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. It was like a low hum in the background, a faint disturbance in the fabric of reality. I tried to ignore it, to focus on my work, but the feeling persisted.
Then, it happened. A blinding flash of light filled my vision, and I felt a sharp pain in my chest. The next thing I knew, I was lying on the ground, surrounded by a crowd of people.
"Is he okay?" someone shouted.
"Call an ambulance!" another yelled.
I tired to get up, but my body wouldn't move. I shifted my gaze downward, and to my horror, I saw that I was bleeding profusely from both my mouth and nose. I could even begin to see the blood forming in my own eyes.
"I'm going to die," I thought to myself.
As the paramedics rushed over to me, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. It was like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Maybe this was the end. Maybe it was time for me to move on. Maybe. . .Just maybe, I wouldn't have to go to work. Ever. Again.
