It was close. Too close.
A young red-headed young woman was carrying a small advanced looking pod to her chest while she carried her military backpack and the keys to the nearest escape ship. She could hear the shouting and blaster sounds from all around her as she made her way through the base.
It started out as only a simple meeting between the two interplanetary nations about the negotiations between the issues of the recent space pirate raids on their merchant ships. But somehow it turned to an all out sneak attack from what she and the other soldiers thought were their allies. But now, it was only a matter of survival for the young commander and her precious cargo.
"Don't worry kid… we're gonna make it… I'm not letting this be your last day." She huffed out at the pod that contained a young child. She finally made it to the docking area and it was worse than she thought it was. Bodies and spilt blood were everywhere. And enemy soldiers were swarming the premises. She had her blaster in hand but didn't really want to shoot them. Not when the kid can still hear. So she improvised by throwing a piece of shrapnel as far as she could in the other direction from the nearest spaceship that was closest to her. To her surprise, it worked. The enemy soldiers ran towards the sound and as fast as she could, she made a mad dash for the ship.
Unfortunately, one of the soldiers saw her and began yelling and alerting his comrades. He shot at her a few times. They almost missed her but one shot grazed her waist line. "Gaaaaahhhhh!!!!" She cried. But she was able to grab her blaster and shoot him, she then made it to the ship's door as fast as she could. She quickly opened and locked it behind her while the soldiers shouted and tried to blast at the ship. She made a beeline for the command center and started it up for blast off. Good thing too, because the soldiers were close to blowing the door off.
"C'mon baby, start up." She mumbled to herself. The ship roared to life and as soon as she could she smashed the launch button and blasted off. But the chase wasn't over yet. More enemy ships trailed after and tried firing at her. She quickly put up the shield and tried to sort out a plan. She looked at the map of neutral territory planets that would welcome refugees. So far, she came out empty handed.
"DAMMIT!!!" She slammed her fist on the counsel. Just then a warning and an incoming call came up on the screen.
"DANGER. MAIN ENGINE UNSTABLE AND UNDER STRESS. OXILERARY STATS ARE AT LOW LEVELS…." Several other notifications popped up but ignored them. She hit the accept call button to see if it was her general and boss. It wasn't.
"Rebel ship. You have ten seconds to turn over to us. If you do not, we will blast you till there is nothing left. If you cooperate with us, we will give you the pleasure of having a painless and quick death."
"Let me think about it… hmmm… TO HELL WITH YOU!!!" She slammed the "End Call" button. And despite the constant complaints from the ship, she sped faster with the thrusters. She frantically tried to look over the map to see where she could go for even the tiniest bit of safety. She was about to lose it, but then her eyes caught sight of a warning on the map.
"DANGER. DO NOT ENTER THIS TERRITORY AT ALL COSTS. UNSTABLE AND UNKNOWN TERRAIN AND LIFE FORMS. NO FUELLING OR MAINTENANCE STATIONS."
She tapped on the area of the map. It was a planet that had existed for over centuries and had undergone many evolutions. It held life, but was considerably primitive in technology standards. But at the current moment, she couldn't care less.
"I'll figure something out on the way. Gotta get rid of these guys!!!" She plugged in the coordinates, despite the warnings she got from the ship, and smashed the hyperspeed button and held on for dear life.
And within a snap of a finger, she arrived. And when she checked the cameras to see if she was followed, she was alone. It looked like she lost them. For now. But now another problem arose. The ship was now screaming and blaring its sirens that it couldn't take the damage anymore.
"SHIT!!!" She then activated the escape pod for an emergency touchdown on the planet. She hurriedly picked up her backpack and the pod. She was about to start running, but then a slight urgent beeping that sounded off from her side. She froze for a second and looked around. She saw what looked like a Rumba vacuum cleaner bot. It was beeping at her urgently. Clearly scared out of its wits. "Dammit…" she cursed as she hurriedly picked up the poor thing and made a mad dash towards the escape pod.
Once sealed and secured, she disembarked from the ship and high tailed it out of there. And just in time too. The ship exploded so brightly that it could rival a star. The debris and Time Pieces scattered towards the planet along with an accelerating escape ship.
"That's going to be a problem later…" she muttered unamused.
Finally, after a burning crash landing onto the planet, she groggily and tiredly got out. Her first thing to do was check on the pod and the extra passenger. The vacuum bot looked a bit frazzled, but it was fine. She quickly opened up the little pod. And there sleeping soundly, was a little girl about the age of 3. She had a mop of brown hair and had a nice complexion of skin. She was very tiny for her age. She wore a dark purple wunzy with yellow stars on it. The only odd thing about her besides her size, was the adult sized purple top hat that she clung to and when she opened her eyes, they shone with a bright teal blue color.
The little girl was confused but smiled tiredly at the red-headed woman. The woman smiled back, relieved that she was okay.
"Hey kid. I know everything is a bit confusing. But I promise that I'm going to get us through it." She tried to reassure the toddler. The only thing the toddler did was smile and yawn. The woman chuckled and slid the lid of the pod back over her to let her sleep a little more.
The woman got out with the vacuum cleaner and the pod and landed on the dirt path. She looked around. Nothing for miles on end. Just dark purple forests. And with the huge crater that she made on the ground from the escape ship. Along with a few burnt up trees. But other than that, she considered it a successful landing.
"Now." She looked around to see if she could find a path or someone that could help.
"Let's see if we can find anyone on this strange planet."
