Dusty wind blows down a road into surrounding building's shattered windows and collapsed walls. The inhabitants inside huddled around fires , and radios. The walls that still remain are littered with graffiti proclaiming "Rude Boy's Turf."Street filled with trash, decommissioned cars, and people going about their morning business. People of shapes , sizes, and dressed in all kinds of manner. Some in rag, work wear, bright neon jumpsuits and some small groups are in full three piece suits. A group of these suit clad individuals, sit on a stoop of a large building with a large checkerboard banner from the windows. Three of them, in their mid twenties, their faces show signs of a recent scuffle. Two of them sit at the top most steps with arms crossed, the one adjusts his hat and clears his throat. "Hey, Boss, whats' taken 'er so long?" The third man sitting in the center most steps turned his head up to face the one with the hat. " Dickie, we've been out here for five minutes. She's comin, you'll see." He said and turned his gaze back to the street. "She never turns down a job. You just need to know how to pay 'er right" He proclaimed.
A loud pop is heard echoing off in the distance, along with the sound of screeching tires. "Speak of the devil" The man in the center step stated. A bellow of dust could be seen down the road getting ever closer. A small, bright red sports car, approached at high speeds. The sounds of the exhaust and stereo echoed off the tattered buildings. The car stopped next to the curb in front of the stoop, the engine turned off with a light putter. As the headlights re-tracked into the angler body of the car, the popped open. Out came a young lady in what can only be described as a skater outfit. Long two-toned black and white hoodie jacket, a short pleated skirt with thigh high fishnets. Her high-tops stood out against the faded concrete sidewalk as she approached the trio."This better be pretty damn important Suggs, it's my only free day" She proclaimed. Suggs stood up from the center step and approached her. "Trust me, Roxy. This is pretty fucking important"He stated with conviction. She stared at him for a moment, Suggs rarely ever cursed in front of her. He always thought it was rude, so Roxy understood the severity of this meeting. "Well, spill it." She said composing herself. "This is big Rox, and I mean big. Two days ago our ration shipment was supposed to arrive, but as you can tell from this meeting, it didn't." He adjusts his tie and calmed himself a bit. "Now I got people say the shipment was last seen in the north while others say it was last seen in the west." She folded her arms as he finished his sentence. "So let me guess, this is where I come in?"
"Precisely, we need you to find out where that shipment has gone." He answered boldly. "You do realize that I'm just a glorified mailman right. Not some Miami Vice detective." She said slightly miffed " I don't know what that is Rox, but I get it. You're the only one I can ask to do this. Frankly the only one I can trust to do this." He cleared his throat and changed his tone. "Now listen, you're the only person I know that can go between the different turfs, without almost anyone batting an eye. IF I send any of my crew, I'd be signing their death warrants. And I know that you know that every other turf hates us rudies. So that's why....." "Okay, I get it." She interrupted, "I'll try and find some clues or something on where the food went."
Suggs released a sigh of relief. " Thank you Roxy, we owe you one." "You're going to have to owe me big, and I'm not doing this on flavors alone. I'm going to need something up front." She stated. " I knew you were going to say that." Suggs said, than snapped his fingers. Dickie pulled out a small box from his jacket and handed it to Roxy. " So whats on it?" She asked while looking at the contents of the box. "Dunno, but I'm sure you'll like it." Suggs answered with a grin as he walked back up the steps, and took his seat in the center.
Roxy walked back to the driver side door of the car and looked back to Suggs. "this might take more than a few days you know?" She said questioning on the time span she needed to complete this the task. "I'm well aware of this, we have some food stocked up and can barter with some neutral traders if need be. The sooner the better though, we have to many mouths to feed in this turf." Answered Suggs. "I'll start with the north than, I have some people there that might point me in the right direction." She said as she entered the car, closing the door behind her. She pushed the clutch in, put the gear shifter into neutral and turned the key in the ignition, starting the car with an audible growl. After clicking the seat-belt into place, she pulled out hte box. Opened she peered onto a faded white cassette tape, the sticker on it faded and the pen written words almost completely unreadable. Only the first track remain legible. "Blue Monday, huh, Yeah I couldn't agree more" She said to herself as she put the tape into the tape deck, Putting the car into gear and headed toward the northern turf as a heavy kick drum beat began to emit from the speakers.
