Shaun and I walked into the office that day, shoulders heavy with shame and ash.  We could feel everybody's eyes on us as we walked down to Commissioner Hellund's office.  "Shaun, Beth, do you know why I called you here today?"

"Nope, no idea"

"Shaun!" I whispered under my breath.  Hellund glared at us.  "Well," he continued, "it appears you two had a bit of an... incident."  That was a severe understatement.  "First of all, you two weren't even on the Jameson case--"

"But sir, Matt and Leroy had no clue what they were doing!" I interrupted.

"That doesn't matter, that was their case, not yours!" Hellund retaliated.  "You guys also..." He pauses, looking confused at his notes.  "... Stole a frozen turkey?"

Shaun started laughing then.  Let me tell you, it did not get any better from there.  "That was the backup," Shaun said.

"A... frozen turkey?"  Hellund said, clearly puzzled.

"Yeah, we were gonna return it after we were done," Shaun 'explained'.

"Uh huh, and what happened to this... turkey?"  Hellund.

 "Well SOMEONE thought it would be a good idea to throw our backup plan off a bridge." 

 "It was on FIRE!" I exclaimed.

"I don't have time for this... Dismissed."

Shaun pouted.  "But don't you want to hear the rest of the story?"

"No!  Get out!" Hellund said, shooing us away.
