Today is a normal day. Like any other day at school everyone is hugging, talking, and skipping down the corridors. This year is different though. I am Charlotte Sage, I’m in year 10 at Harvey Greene Grammar School for Girls. (Or Higgs) The school’s pretty old. It burned down a few years back but was rebuilt and started up again. Across the street from Higgs is Truham Grammar School for Boys. I have a brother and a sister, Jack (8) and Alyssa (15). My sister, Alyssa is very nice and was there for me when my mental health got really bad. Jack doesn’t understand any of this yet (thankfully) but he’s helped me too. I pull out an envelope inside my backpack and open it. Ah, yes, new forms.
“From the beginning of this school year, all students at Higgs will be placed in new vertical form groups. You will be required to attend for registration at 8:30am and 2:05pm everyday. Each group will have 5-6 students from each year group. Goodluck and hope you have a wonderful year.” I sigh and start looking for my class. The teacher Mrs. Loa greets me and shows me where I will be seated.
“Let's see..you’re seated over there.” She points towards a desk near a large window. I look that way and notice a girl. She looks deep in thought with worry in her face. Her hair is an orangy brown and has curls at the end.
“Next to Maddie Spring-Nelson.” Mrs. Loa finishes. I walk over to the table and sit down.
“Hi,” Maddie says.
“Hi,” I replied.
