Unspelled

Unspelled

Aug 08, 2025

On the full moon eventide, three sprinting ravished witches emerged upon the charcoaled castle with a massive pointed hat spire. Their undulating brunette hair and inky cloaks fluttered as they hastened into the charred forest.

The fringes of their cloaks touched the ashy ground at their halt when the witches around erupting volcano cackled with reverberating laughter.

"They were all avaricious and craving for revenge," Heide said. "I forebode awful thing from that kind of assembly. They might have a wicked plan which would disrupt elves once again."

"Let's just move on," Hwig said. "We might have time."

They headed to a magma well amidst the forest.

They held hands around the well and began with an incantation as they squeezed their eyes shut. The magma was seething as a gale of wind huddled around them. The wind left when the magma stopped seething, which opened their eyes. Astonishment and wondering had seemed when an infant elf with ebony eyes rose before their sight.

"A-a baby...?" Hemmer uttered as their hands untied from the grip. "A baby elf?"

Using the mauve spell from Heide's hands, she lifted the newborn as she glided it towards her and held it face-to-face.

"Let's take him." Hwig directed.

"Taking him?" Hemmer confusedly asked. "No, we should not."

"I have a plan..." Hwig replied.

One of the hagged witches on broomsticks bawled above trees, "Those three stubborn witches, nab them!"

The three witches instantly fled from the whizzing hagged witches who chased them, and they were able to hide in a pile of carcasses.

Hwig kissed the baby's fontanelle, and then a spell passed all over his body.

"We cannot bewitch his kind," Hemmer said with apprehension. "We surely will be in danger just by nurturing him."

"Our charms ourselves can deceive him," Hwig returned. "Enough to bewitch everything. Have you forgotten?"

They woke up with the baby no longer by their side.

They return to the castle to ascertain the baby. They made a way to sneak in, but startled to discover a loads of newborns confined in a dungeon.

The trio replicated themselves. The dummies have been on the lookout outside of the dungeon, while they discerned the babies one by one, until they had fetched theirs and fortunately escaped.

They took the baby away, named him Noa, and they took care of him, who was already a boy after thirty nights had passed. Noa was the only one saved from the hands of the witches.

A half-mile down into the ground, the witches' clandestine activity reached the king of elfic civilization. The king's blood ignited anew as he puffed a sonic scream, and he did not hesitate to rush to retrieve their stolen kind.

"What can we do to maintain our outward beauty?" Heide asked as she and her sisters glanced over the mirror river beneath the sun on the horizon.

"We have to go back to the castle to get the grimoire before the sunset," Hemmer replied.

"Who will be left to watch over Noa in a den?" Hwig asked.

The three boisterous ravens cawed as they came to recommend themselves to help.

From a den, Noa eyed the conflagrated castle and the swarming ravens away from it, where the three sisters would go.

He manipulated the minds of the three ravens as he freed them from a spell. He hurried to run, and suddenly, he met the elves who instantly seized him.

The fiery castle befell all the witches except the sisters. There was nothingness but the harshly bitter ashes and the grimoire that made them fortunate, howsoever.

The arrival of dusk accompanied the entry of the sisters into a den. They found Noa trapped by his kin.

The witches were outraged as Noa stopped weeping when he was appalled and bewildered by the withered skin, tousled hair, and horrible faces of the witches.

The sisters were now hideous before his eyes. Nor could the three expect the changes despite the spell.

An emaciated elf asked Noa, "Are they the witches you say?"

"Noa...!" Hemmer muttered as they were held by the elves.

"No, they are not," Noa answered unequivocally.

The three hearts were shattered as they faced their death in front of Noa.

Noa and Heide gazed at each other. He was confused by the moonlight glimmered on her eyes that seemed familiar to him before tears rolled down her cheek as the three unspelled ravens cawed in the sky.
