On that quiet winter night, Ryōsuke’s eyes narrowed behind his glasses when, for the briefest second, his gaze met hers… the same brown eyes that once looked at him with warmth, from that gentle spring afternoon of ten years ago.
Their youth unfolded like the passing seasons—the bonds of friendship, the sound of laughter, the trembling warmth of first love, the sting of heartbreak, and the struggles of growing up.
This is the story of the seasons they shared, the memories that remained, the choices they made—and everything in between.
Preface
Some years ago, a close Japanese friend, who had always been like an older sister to me, asked what I truly loved to do. I listed things I had taken interest in over the years—photography, singing, sketching. Then I remembered something I once loved even long before: writing.
It started around fifth grade. My stories back then were very plain and carefree. But just like everyone else, I grew up. And as I did, I told myself I lacked the experience, or the time, or even the reason to write. So I just stopped.
But my friend's words—"Keep trying because you shine brightest when you do what you enjoy"—stayed with me and gently nudged me to try again. Though it wasn’t all that easy—took me about another year after that before I again dared to put my ideas into words.
Even now, I still have my doubts but even so, if you’re reading this, it means I finally took the first step—the hardest one, actually. And for that, I thank you.
This story may be a little cliché and a bit flawed… but it is something I created out of passion. And so, I’ll do my best to do better, but more importantly, I’ll be sure to enjoy this journey with the hopes that you’ll also do.
As for the friend who gave me the gentle push to try again, thank you. I am looking forward to the day that I can share this with you when we finally meet again.
