"Are you serious?!" I hiss lowly at myself as I eye the cut which gives blood the go-ahead to ooze hypnotically slow - down my bottom lip. "We've already gone over this!"
"You know how this works," I snarl at my reflection in the mirror, which snarls right back in retaliation.
"When in Rome, do as the Romans. When in Rome, do as the Romans. When i-" A loud yet low base thump vibrates against the dark-wooded door as it shakes violently, "Carmen? Okay in there?"
"Crap," I bite out. "No, no, no, no. . ." The redundant word comes out nervously sung.
"I'm f-" I croak before clearing my throat to steady my shaking voice. "I'm fine, I- sh-"
My head swivels around, coils painfully whipping my eyes while I watch in horror as the locks turn before the knob follows suit. Almost as if slow-motion, Roman struts in - instantly making the air prickle coldly. "I kept calling you, Halo."
