“There was a small village tucked away in the mountains. Everyone was happy in this wonderful village. But soon a problem arose! A revoltingly cruel Ogre with an abnormal sense of bloodlust found its way into this poor unknowing village. This ugly monster struck fear within any poor creature that had the misfortune of coming across it. One day its horrid-self came into the village and went on a rampage, the townspeople tried their hardest but could not defeat the beast. Although all hope seemed lost, one brave hero sent off to find and talk with the beast. After months the hero comes back and had good news.
‘He only wishes to be fed. If we can give him enough food for a month, he will no longer terrorize us!’” All the townspeople rejoiced and began to throw a party to celebrate the great news. But that happiness was short lived for the ogre was on a rampage again but this time no one could understand why, so one of the townspeople were sent to see what the problem was. This time the man was quick, it only took 3 weeks but this time it was not good news, the Ogre wanted a sacrifice on top of the food, so the village would only sacrifice criminals. And the village and its people were in peace again.” The young lady finished. The small children around her began to chatter, one of the children pulled at the end of her skirt to gesture she had something to say. The young lady then turned to the child. “Yes,” she said. “miss Rachela, if we are in peace why do we still have to feed the ogre” Rachela was at a loss for words, she knew that the people of this town were not really at peace but was it was better to keep that a secret from the kids. In fact, Rachela only found out about the truth last year. Rachela opened her mouth to speak again.” We just do that to show kindness to one of our many neighbors, that’s all.” The small child then smiled at her and nodded. Rachela was one of the many girls in this small village that would help look after the children. She had a close family, with mother, older brother, and a little sibling on the way. With her father being sacrificed for stealing food for her family, she feared her brother might soon have the same fate. Her brother looked Fairley like her so as kids they would get into trouble and blame it on each other. But her brother did not outgrow this childish behavior and having their father die during that troublesome stage only added to his confused and in raged State. As they become older Rachela would help to do chores for the town and babysitting the children. As for, Filip he would constantly cause trouble for the village. Like stealing and telling lies of the monster trying to get into the village. Rachela and Filip were worlds apart personality wise, but Rachela still loved her brother dearly. As Rachela was finishing up her chores for the day she was approached by a young man, he looked familiar. She quickly realized it was one of her brother’s friends. he seemed out of breath and fearful, for a second it crossed her mind that the ogre was on another rampage. Now you looked fearful as well. After he caught his breath he spoke up “I-it’s your brother h-he’s going to be sacrificed!” he finished, breathing heavily. She went wide-eyed with disbelief, she felt as if someone stabbed her through her chest. “Come on!” he said before grabbing her hand and pulling her to the village center. And there was her brother just as his friend said. She quickly ran over to him “Filip!” she yelled. He looked Bruised and beaten with blood all over him, it was clear that he really was going to be the next sacrifice. She held him in her arms telling him everything was going to be ok. He begins to speak weakly “Rachela, I am sorry” Rachela lifted her head to look at him “Filip how did you get like this what happened.” He looked away with shame.” It was j-just a joke we-no I didn’t mean for it to go this far!” he breaks down into tears. Rachela turns to one of the older men.” What has happened? What has my brother done that was horrendous enough that it earned him the right to be here like this!?” the older man that stood in front of her with an almost smirk on his face started to speak up. This man always seemed to hate Filip.” Well, my dear, your brother was and is always been a troublemaker and this time he just went too far. You see-” he says as he moves closer to her.” We have tolerated his behaver up till now out of respect for you and your family but as I said before he went too far. Your brother is a murderer.” That word rang in her ears and thousands of thoughts ran through your mind” N-no you are wrong Filip is not a murderer” the smirk on the older man's face was now visible to all “of course your brother is a murderer I watched it happen. I watched your brother push Hanna down the hill” he finishes as he strokes my chin.” Listen though maybe there is something I could do for him, maybe I’ll put in a word to the village elder?” She had trouble hiding the disgust on her face as he clearly was making moves on her. Once again, she looked back at her brother still on the ground softly weeping, then turning back to the older man.” Thank you for your kindness sir but that’s- “He cuts her off by pulling her closer and tightening his grip on her wrist. ’How dare he touch me so carelessly after calling my brother a murder?! What scum of the earth!’ she thought to herself in irritation.” I’m sorry sir but I don’t quite understand what you’re trying to Imply.” Rachela finishes as she quickly pulls her hand back. The man just looks at her and smirks. He then Leans close to her ear and whispers; Rachela you are a smart girl I believe in the end you will make the right Choice. After finishing his sentence, he walks away. Rachela stands there for a second trying to Process what she had just Heard. Was she hearing him correctly, did he truly have the nerve to say something like that?! She was right before to think he was the scum of the earth.
