Hey everyone, just an update on Cheapjack Gentlemen, since it's been a few months. It's still going! The next page will probably be up for its 5th anniversary (January).
***Feel free to skip this part if you're not interested in art technicalities***
When I entered the world of webcomics, I had no idea about the popularity of Webtoon or vertical scroll format. I was taught to make comics in the traditional full-page format, so that's how I did it.
Then I asked around for critique and was told that vertical scroll was the popular option for webcomics these days. I stopped doing pages the traditional way. I deeply regret not just going traditional and reformatting for vertical scroll instead of drawing it in vertical scroll format. Thinking of the comic page-by-page instead of by "episode" has already been leagues less stressful for me.
(Webtoon standards and expectations really screwed up the webcomic landscape, but that's a different subject.)
***End of technicality rant***
I've been busy reformatting the comic to traditional. I'm going to work in traditional format from now on, then reformat it to vertical scroll.
Traditional pages will be posted on Instagram (@missfester), Bluesky (@missfester), and Comic Fury.
With every ~2 pages, I'll post the vertical scroll version to Webtoon, Tapas, and Globalcomix.
So just a note, pages will be up on Instagram/Bluesky/Comic Fury before Webtoon/Tapas/Globalcomix in case anyone wants to read ahead!
Started a Cheapjack Gentlemen discord server!
Feel free to join/troll, though. I'll figure things out. It's okay. It'll be okay.
I'll "officially" announce it on the comic with the next update.
Gotta talk about Cheapjack Gentlemen! (May get long-winded, pardon me)
Where the heck do I start? I can tell there's a lot of attention to detail (The backgrounds, characters, even down to the speech choices) and a lot of love put into this project, definitely shows. I'm always looking forward to when there's an update or some cool art to look at on Rebecca's instagram. I love the choice of black/white/greys for the pages, I love the variation of characters. The writing is solid, easy to follow, and I wanna know what happens next! I hadn't found a webcomic in a long time to really draw me in the same way, so the fact that I found one I enjoy is a rarity, a real diamond in the rough. I find this series super underrated. I found the series by chance on Twitter and I'm so glad I gave it a chance. Thank you so much for all your hard work, research, and for sharing your project with us! I look forward to future pages!
THIS IS SUCH A SWEET COMMENT!
I don't even know how to adequately respond to something like this. I'm so happy you're enjoying it so far, though, and I hope it continues to be amusing. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
