I sincerely hope that people won't judge too soon when they read my story someday.... yes there will be very problematic themes BUT they will get treated realistically, without glorifying or romanticizing them. Unfortunately the new generation is quickly to judge if they see something that doesn't please them.
They prepare to start a witch hunt..make assumptions about the author and turn to bullying instead of just taking the adult decision to just block the content and ignore it instead of wasting the whole day on calling someone out for just writing a story or draw a picture with content they don't like. Even if they get blocked by the artist, they come back with their second accounts to still view the content they apparently don't like. I hope that someday that the fiction and art community can be fun again... just like in the old days when smut or nsfw was still tagged lemon.
All of this is why i'm struggling with my webcomic. It's the agonizing fear that people like this could tear it apart just because they don't know that mlm isn't just all fluff and vanilla sex. The hell..even my gay friends which i know for years prefer storys like this once in a while. Otherwise it get's damn boring. If fluff Fanfictions are the only literature that you consume, well yes then you wouldn't know about the variety of story's that exist to this day.
I don't know where some people get the motivation to harass artists over their content...They think they are saints by doing this to protect fictional characters. But they all just have terrible ugly personalities for harassing artists to the point that they end up in the hospital.
Ask yourself again when you are more grown up and look back on all of this....was it all really worth it? Are you proud of yourself for being such a hateful person? Think about it. All i can say is, spend your time with things you enjoy, which make you smile...and not bring out the most terrible side of you.
