My name is Rian Sygh. I am a professional illustrator and comic artist living in Charlotte, NC. I currently work with Boom! Studios. I like cartoons, comics, and Diet Coke.
A very important post for my supporters!! Tapastic is going to be phasing out the Support Programme so I went ahead and made a Patreon page to act as a replacement! It's very intuitive and easy to use so if you would like to continue supporting me and my art please consider becoming a patron there instead! https://www.patreon.com/riansygh
Hey all you new faces! an update for you all! Stolen Forest is currently on a sporadic update schedule (ie:infrequent) because of my other full time comic work! I hope to be back soon but I doubt regular weekly updates will resume. I'm debating finishing up the current chapter and then releasing SF a full chapter at a time but I don't know how that will go with my topsy turvy schedule atm! If you want to check out more of my work, I currently work with BOOM! Studios on Munchkin, Fionna & Cake; Card Wars, and with Z2 on Welcome to Showside. Also working on a bunch of super secret projects for various people that I hope you keep your eyes open for when they're finally announced!
Thank you all so much for reading, sharing, and subscribing to my comics! You can always reach me at @Riansygh or check me out on Tumblr: riansygh.tumblr.com!
A) I have a new computer, and it's very shiney and new and I'm learning how to use it- so updates will e v e n t u a l l y return, even if I'm not 100% sure WHEN.
B) I've been doing a lot more published work lately! and I'm working on some things I'm not really allowed to talk about yet, but be sure to stay tuned when I can announce some of the stuff I've been chipping away at!! as always, you can check out my twitter for my latest escapades @riansygh!!
Hi friends! This Friday I ship out to NYC for MoCCA Fest with some pals and then I'll be helping my girlfriend move, so no new SF for a little bit. No worries tho, I've got a couple of pages in the pipeline that I hope to have out soon. Thanks so much for your patience and readership!!
If you'll be at MoCCA please say hi if you see me! I'll be walking the show floor basically all day Sat & Sun!! You can always poke me on twitter to see where I am! (@riansygh)
Here's you all a teeny sneak peek of the next page for being so good to me! <3
in regards to my most recent pages and some comments I've received please read my post about "Traps" here: http://riansygh.tumblr.com/post/111775134028/the-problem-with-traps
then the world would just be boring, in my opinion.
and to take away the precariously bubbling pot of a cook and replace it with a microwave can only end in tears as they're thrown from their comfort zone. The food would be gross and the chef be unhappy.
what I was trying to say is one can't force society to change on one's own whims, but I don't think anyone was arguing against that so I just feel silly now.
Hihi, Amet^^ I think that a more understanding society would not be boring because there would be so many amazing things we could do instead of hurting each other. The problem is that society thinks itself much smarter than it really is, and doesn't want to acknowledge that people can be happy in living simple lives without making it all a competition. If we had a hivemind mentality, we'd all praise each other for all the good our diversity can bring, how some can be amazing masons, artists, vendors, hairdressers, housewives/husbands etc, and feel great to do what we are good for, no matter our skin color, gender identity, sexual orientation or whatever! ♥
but y'see, to me that's boring, as I quite enjoy the instability all this brings. As calloused as that may seem, I'd go mad in a perfect society, probably become a thrill seeker that hops around living off of scrap found in the desert to make my own daredevil equipment or something.
That's fascinating. Maybe you could engage in sports or debate teams or in becoming actor or frontline scientist? I find there is a lot of instability in trying to solve problems already, like, you could become one of those adventurous scientist who go collect firsthand data from the wilds, to see how the sixth continent of pollustion is growing in the ocean, or what. It's a lot of struggle.
an update for you all!
Stolen Forest will return soon! I've a handful of pages ready to be coloured on the back burner. Thank you all for your patience! I've been in deadline hell the last few months so I'm psyched to be able to work on it again! You can check out what I've been doing lately by swinging by your local comic shops! ;)
This comic that you've made is awesome. And also having seen your page, I should note that I am very near your age, (Actually at it) and that I sincerely believe that you will be a great comic artist. Or failing that, a good one, but you will be great to me anyways.
Good luck in your endeavors; the Masked Mysadaean.
