Update: The next chapter is going to be delayed a couple days. It will post on either Monday night or Tuesday. Sorry in advance. My work schedule changed and I have a family event to go to this weekend.
Just an update: I will be getting back into S&B in the first couple weeks of January. Not making any promises on when exactly, because I have a ton going on outside of writing this series, but I will definitely be back on track with it shortly. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
Just so everyone knows, there won't be a new chapter of S&B until after Christmas. As mentioned in my previous author's note, I had a death in the family and that, coupled with the holidays, doesn't have me in the best frame of mind at the moment. I'm hoping to be able to write much more after Christmas when I have some extra time off from work.
Hi everyone! Just letting you know that I will be posting a chapter of Shield and Bow each day of Inksgiving! If you'd like to show me any support, I would love and appreciate it, but you'll get some extra chapters regardless. Thank you!
Now that DC is complete, I wanted to give an update on what's to come. As previously posted, I am working on the next book, which will be much longer and also a seriously slow burn. I expect to start posting this in Late September or early October, depending on how life is going. I've been dealing with major creative burnout thanks to my "real job," but I think something short and sweet like DC was what I needed to kickstart myself again. Are you ready for a closer look at the Tetem Lanali warriors?
I have a couple updates to share!
1. I'm closing my Patreon for now because it felt weird adding things for no one to read. I may consider opening it again when I reach 500 followers.
2. Now that DC is winding down, I am working on the next book. Even though my prefered story length is a novella, I know that isn't what most people are here for. The next book (still untitled) is going to be much longer, likely longer than Curse of Blades was by the end of it. It's also going to be an incredibly slow burning romance - we're going to follow the main characters for a few seasons before they even meet. Hopefully you will love them as much as I already do, too!

As this current book draws to a close (I've written more chapters than I've posted, so it feels closer to the end than you see) I've started thinking about what I will write next. I want to try something different and go for something much longer and more thorough. I'm used to writing in novel format, with short plots that wrap up easily. I think next we will follow a couple characters over the course of several years and see what mischief they can get into.
The spring semester has started for me so I will be updating less on World Anvil but I will still be posting weekly chapters here. I hope you are enjoying the new story as it's not as laid back as the previous. I think Convicted is more like what I've recently heard called "cozy fantasy" while Dangerous is plotted to be more about intrigue (and romance). I still don't have the energy to write another epic like Blades right now, but I hope to get there again. Mental health can really derail you.
Update on the next book: the first few chapters are ready to go, I'm just having a horrible time getting any of the covers I have tried to make to upload here. I didn't have this much trouble with any of my other books, so I'm getting rather frustrated. If I ever win this battle, the next book will begin posting shortly.
I'm trying to catch up on creating my World Anvil site, the reference for my fantasy world. I'm now dedicated to writing one article every week on my days off from work. Check out what I've got written so far: https://www.worldanvil.com/w/ayrith-ryderbailey
