Early on when not much information was around on the topic, back when Dalle 2 dropped, I was photobashing backgrounds for my older comic Man Made Fire (which is on hiatus for various reasons)
Photobashing can be quite complicated when you're not always able to find photos to contruct with. My technique wasn't great when I review my older works.
But some of the bashed backgrounds have some generated images alongside photo assets worked in and I am not proud of it.
Back when I was doing this I knew nothing about LAION, the ethics, how these datasets are made and how destructive datacenters are to the enviroment. I assumed generations were ''photo collaging'' (theyre not.)
I stopped working on this comic when the topic was still largerly evolving, and I kind of hate looking back at it. I've avoided bringing it up because I tainted something that mattered to me so naively.
I've been wanting to remove it for a while now.
I have been so tightly focussed on learning about this topic that I completely forgot and overlooked that I had experimented with it in photobashing. It's embarrassingly late and I want to own up to it.
The last few episodes I had posted had backgrounds made with the sims 4, and mangaka (a 3d software)
I have rethought the story a lot of times, when the time comes, remake it entirely. Improve the story progression and not feel gross about the photobashed backgrounds being tainted by dalle2. Ugh
I think part of me hasn't been willing to archive it because some folks really liked the comic, but looking back I'm really disappointed in myself.
I've been so focussed on other things, it went to the baaaack of my mind. Life is quite chaotic.
I'll be leaving the comic up for a bit for those who may want to re-read it, but I'll remove it soon.

Due current ongoing drama regarding social media like deviantart / twitter- I'm going through a lot of stress. I'll resume my webtoon once I've sorted out my plan regarding adoptables / personal art, and were to take myself next. My webcomic will still always be available on tapas and webtoon. Do not fret.
