Madness Inc. turns 4 on Saturday, and as of right now, we’re about halfway through the last chapter. In fact, today I’m working on the last update that has Nancy, Jyoti, and my personal fav, Reggie, in it. The last three years I’ve spent today either streaming or doing a whole week of spitting out fanart. I decided to just open up Facebook and Twitter for questions, and spend the day just generally working ahead.
I personally am proud of where this comic went, we started off with an open-ended idea, and we’ve managed to weave a full core cast of characters into a firm narrative, something some webcomics don’t manage to do. We also made the leap from black and white to color, survived a six-month hiatus, and are finishing ten chapters later. I don’t know about you, but having a 4-year project finished and under my belt makes me feel incredibly proud.
So what’s next? As always, you can follow me on Twitter, @hawkvawg, and Mitch, @Madness2_4. You also can see more of my art on my Patreon, patreon.com/alicehakvaag. There I’m working on shorter (much shorter) comics and zines, as well as daily diary comics and illustrations and streams. After this, who knows? I would like to do another long webcomic like this, but I am going to take a breather and hopefully open myself up to some artistic inspiration or something, idk.
I want to take today to thank everyone for reading the comic, 4 years is a long time! Seeing your support every week really made a difference as my art and Mitch’s writing grew and got better. I know how it ends, and ending does feel bittersweet, but I hope that you all will like it. As I said earlier, feel free to post any kind of questions about Madness Inc or webcomics in general to us here, on Facebook, or on Twitter. Let’s do this!
Hello everyone! It's past November and I know, there isn't an update. I wanted to ask y'all what you would like for future updates especially since I might be facing wrist surgery on my drawing hand within a month.
We could:
Start putting out updates now (I have a buffer, so it's not impossible), and then stop again once I get my wrist sorted out, wait for it to heal, and then go back into it
Hold off on updates until after the procedure, which again, is scheduled for exactly a month from now. I could build up more of a buffer and even start publishing right after the procedure so that by the time my buffer runs out, I can start drawing again.
I'd love to hear your input, and then me and the writer can make a plan!
Hello everyone! If you haven't already checked it out, I just updated all of the art for chapter 1! Back then I didn't even have a pen sensitivity-enabled drawing program, and I didn't want to make new readers read through that.
Unfortunately I wanted to do chapters 1-4 during my summer hiatus, but I was too ambitious and ran out of time. Instead of making you wait forever and a day until that finished, I'v'e published chapter one and will work on updating the old chapters with new art alongside new comic updates.
With that, our hiatus is almost over! I want to create a small buffer of new comics before I enter the school year, so I'd say my original guess of the fall will still be in place. Expect us back mid-to-late October, November at the latest.
Thanks for reading and thanks for your patience!!!
