tapas is shutting down.
what i have found out about it that the ever exploitative parent company kakao is moving everything to an ai-assisted reader called kakaopage. since I already hate them, I'm deleting previous posts and the collab series that I left on here. I do not consent my data being used for ai for any purpose.
on a more personal note, since it's been 3.5 years, A Galactic Star is out in print, so is Coffee and Summoning Circles. I have a YA series coming out next year. I have a merch shop through redbubble, and music in the works. you can find more details at http://authorshen.carrd.co

Due to Tapas repeatedly fucking creators over, I have decided to remove my series from this platform.
Their crimes so far have been removing search words related to top LGBTQIA+ series, nepotism and bullying, romanticized toxicity in their top advertised series (my secretly hot husband), offering less than half of industry standard wages to creators, exploiting indie creators during inksgiving, and most recently, outright scamming someone out of all revenue related to the ip they created (Sound of Bread).
Before Tapas was acquired it was headed in the right direction of being both a just company and a successful one. Now it is a corrupt ash pit unworthy of the deepest corner of Orcus's domain.
In August I was angry and left the tapas server because they allowed bullying to go unmoderated on their discord server. I wasn't the one targeted, but I was a witness, and it disgusted me.
If you see this, chances are pretty good you are a creator yourself. I am removing my series from tapas and I encourage you to do the same. So this is your 60 day notice. On the 1st of May I will be deleting all of my series from tapas, except Welcome to Dusky Hollow as it was a collaboration between myself and several other creators.
Confessions will no longer receive updates here as I begin to find a place for it elsewhere.
A Galactic Star will soon be available on Kindle and Kindle Direct Publishing, and is already available on RoyalRoad and Honeyfeed.
Once I have edited a few more stories Coffee and Summoning Circles will be available on Kindle and Kindle Direct as well.
The AGS comic will no longer be updated on Tapas. It will be available on Webtoon and Global Comix. Global Comix is currently in beta testing for an app and I have high hopes for them.
I never created my stories for revenue, but it wasn't a hobby either. To me, creating has always been akin to breathing. To watch Tapas break down piece by piece is heartbreaking.

Thanks, I gave it a read. I wasn't entirely sure they would have done this on Tapas, and honestly, I've been watching Tapas implode although by now frankly I don't care since I branched out a lot of other stuff. Good luck on honeyfeed and royalroad. How do you find honeyfeed?

@Endlessmidnightmoon Honeyfeed seems nice enough. because they are partnered with MyAnimeList it is more geared to Lightnovels. they are browser based, but the mobile site is really clean.
@Jobless I hope it is only a premenant hiatus on tapas. your series are fantastic and i would despise to see them lost because the platform is shitballs.

In their goal to overtake Webtoon for the comic top spot, they have become just as corrupt. Between the bullying on their server and the blatant exploitation of creators I will not encourage the earning of ink, as it puts money in their pocket.
If you want to support me, just reading my series is enough. If you have already earned ink for support, I would request you give it to another creator in my stead.
