This is going to be hard to write, but it needs to be done.

First of all, thank you for your patience. It's been a difficult few months and we know it's not fun waiting for updates from a series.

For some time now, given the current state of the world we've been debating the value of us continuing The Caskhouse Casefiles in their current form. While we've always wanted to create a more diverse fantasy setting, there's no escaping the fact that we are two white men writing stories focused on two characters of colour, both of whom work in a form of law enforcement. As it stands with everything happening in the world right now this feels crass at best, and at worst actively harmful. Simply put, the story of a man of colour dealing with the trauma and impact of life under a difficult, corrupt police force is simply not our story to tell.

What this all means is that the Caskhouse Casefiles will be going on indefinite hiatus, effective immediately while we figure out our next move, be that a whole new series with brand new stories and characters, coming back to at least finish off this initial story within the Caskhouse universe, or some mix of the two. What we can say for sure is: This is not the end.

Going forward the pages already posted in the Caskhouse Casefiles series will remain online until we have a plan for our next project. It's early days, but as soon as we have something to show you it'll be here.

It's been an amazing journey for both of us. This project has pushed us as artists and creators further than either of us could have dreamed; we're both better than when we started, and have learned so much. Whatever the next step in the journey is, it's going to be incredible. We sincerely hope you'll join us there.

So it's been nearly a year since we started posting the Caskhouse Casefiles and we've learned a lot in that process.

Something that's always been an ongoing concern is keeping to a regular update schedule that's also sustainable when it comes to drawing; we still both have day jobs so finding time to work on pages can be tricky!

With that in mind we're considering switching our update schedule from one page a week to longer, multi-page updates spaced further apart. This'll give us more time to polish each page to the standard we want, plus give us space to maybe post some more fun extra stuff as well, if that's something you guys would be interested in seeing.

Before we go ahead with this change we wanted to put it to you guys! After all, you've made this first year amazing and we owe it all to you for reading, liking and commenting. So: which would you prefer? Keeping the current schedule of one page a week or longer updates with longer breaks in between? Let us know, and as ever thank you!

The first page of our first comic goes live tomorrow morning and the excitement (mixed with a healthy dose of terror) is unreal!!
