It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but here’s a doodle of my main couple in Celestial Promise (drawn by me)! We’re almost 90 chapters into the journey!
Did you know that Celestial Promise is my 1st series? I’ve written many stories, most of which were short stories though. I have much to learn and, since my late undergrad years, been taking steps toward writing more seriously.
Most readers will not know what Hmong is. It’s okay. To be brief, Hmong is an ethnic group that originated from China and one of China’s many Miao people. Some of our ancestors resettled in various parts of Southeast Asia, with millions of Hmong/Miao still residing in China. My great-grandparents were among the last waves to leave & make their home in Laos, and I grew up with Hmong/Miao folktales from my father’s side.
According to my father’s relatives, reincarnation in Hmong Shamanism depicts Hmong people choosing to reincarnate into different forms, shapes, and diverse identities whether it’d be a cat, a different culture, different gender/sex/nonspecific, & etc. I come from a long traditional line of proud shamans as well.
It's been almost a month since the launch of Celestial Promise, and I want to thank everyone for their support and comments on the chapters. Honestly, I was quite surprised by the amount of support I received since this is my first series. I wouldn't be here without the Tapas staff and without you all, so thank you for serving as my motivation to keep going. I'm glad that you're all here with me.
For those who might be wondering, I've been greatly inspired by my Hmong culture's folktales about celestial maidens and dragon people, my marriage, Cdramas, BL web novels that I've read, lots of webtoons, and a pretend game that a late childhood friend & I used to play. For her, I will continue to write. For her, I hope that in the next life, she will find someone to love, others to love, and love for herself too. Thank you.
