So with me wrapping up the drawing of Connection today (Pages will be coming out soonish), I thought I would talk a little bit about the series and how its changed my views on drawing and such.
To start with I kinda want to address why Connection was made in the first place. Connection was originally never supposed to happen. I was gonna continue on with ASH Overload and that was it. However, Connection came to be for two real reasons.
First was I wanted something that pushed me to draw more consistently than I had been doing. And that worked in some regard. While Connection has been on hiatus for a while at this point I have continued to draw it whenever I have the time.
The second reason was so I could prove to myself that I could actually finish a project. I have a bad history of starting projects and never following through with them. So this will be the first fully finished product. And Im quite proud of that fact.
Now to address some of the problems I faced with this project. First of which was making this comic completely silent. This was intended to force me into making it a more visual story where emotions would be quite visible on the characters faces. But a lot of the time it ended with bland panels that didn't do a whole lot.
The second problem was me rushing. I have spent most of the year on this project and quite frankly I wanted it done. This led to the last quarter of the comic being rushed like crazy and not being up to my standards.
So to wrap up, what lessons am I gonna take from this moving forward. Well to start, Im going to give myself more time. I don't want to rush what Im working on anymore and instead am going to do things at my own pace. Which leads me to say that projects and other things are now going to be released on a done when its done basis.
The second thing is I want to get better. I am not a great artist, hell, I don't even believe Im a competent artist. But... I want to improve.
Thanks to everyone who read and supported!
As of today Connection is going on a 3 week hiatus. However, this isn't a particularly traditional hiatus. I'm going to be working on Connection throughout all these three weeks. I'm gonna stockpile pages and then release them every couple days when I come back.
So why do this and not just work on one page and release it when Im done? Well simply put I want get ahead on this. I want a bunch of pages done ahead of time so I can use that extra time to get started on other projects.
When I come back, I will hopefully have most of the comic done aside from maybe a few pages. Then I can focus my efforts on the return of A.S.H. Overload and a 2019 project I'm not gonna talk about just yet.
Thanks everyone for your patience and understanding. I will be back soon with some fun stuff.
So due to my life continuing to screw me over the rest of chapter 1 will be in two parts even though I wanted to release it all at once. Chapter 1.3 will be out tomorrow afternoon. Chapter 1.4 the final chapter 1 part will be out the fourth of March.
