~Enicabie POV~
I looked out my bedroom window seeing the sun shine beyond the fence in the back of the house. “Another day. Good thing I did my History and Biology homework,” I said to myself, “otherwise this day would most likely end up really sucking… and I am talking to myself...again.” I muttered then shook my head. I yawned then turned to the closet, opened it up then grabbed a pair of black jeans and a gray top. I walked to the bathroom and changed in it, got washed up then headed to my mother’s room. “Mom, I’m going now!” I called over the sound of her hairdryer. “Mother!” I called again when she didn’t respond. She turned to me, “What?” she asked, and I repeated myself for the third time. She nodded and said I should grab something to eat. I nodded next, then took a round to the kitchen, opened a cupboard then closed it. With my hands empty, I walked out of the house and started heading to school.
I seriously wish I could just tell her “food early in the morning makes me sick”. To bad she wouldn’t hear that. She would only hear what she wants to hear: “I am starving myself”. Jeez… I could lose a little, but I wouldn’t stoop that low…
I sighed rolling my eyes at my thoughts then tensed as I came to a stop a block and a half away from the school. Shoot! Sophomores have a test today! Ughh...I take back what I thought earlier. The day already sucks… I groaned a continued walking. I looked left, then right before I was about to cross a street when I got the air knocked out of me as I was tackled to the ground. “Sorry! My mistake! I uh… fell. Yeah! I fell!” I heard a girl rush out as she lifted herself off me and stand before offering me a hand. I took it and stood up. “It’s fine.. Just be careful next time.” I said, but I had a feeling, she did that intentionally.
“Um.. I’m Amy Lola.” She introduced. “Uh..Hi.” I said awkwardly. What was I supposed to say? Ugh.. she’s staring at me… Okay fine. I’ll introduce myself..!“I’m Enica-” I started to say, but she cut me off. “Enicabie Cardel right? Wow I heard you were pretty but I didn’t think you were so beautiful!” She said giving me a once over with her green eyes. I looked down at my old, black converse, black jeans, and gray v-neck shirt. My freakishly multi-colored hair that looked mostly orange with black and pink was brushed and down, but it was seriously out of control. I was lazy today so I only put on liquid eyeliner on my top lid. All together, I looked like an emo slob. What the heck is she seeing? “Uh.. I’m really not that attractive-” especially not today… I added in my head, “but thanks.” I said to her and she shook her head. “But you are! You really are cute. I see why he likes you so much…” She said and I looked at her confused. “What?” I asked and she looked at me and made a face as though just now realizing what she had said. “Oh! Nothing. Sorry. Hey, isn’t school starting in like, twelve minutes?” she asked tilting her head.
I pulled my phone out and looked at the time. 7:58?! I thought I was only ten minutes behind my usual time! How long was this whole talk?! “Woah. Relax. I have a car. I can give you a ride if you want. Come on.” She said nodding over to a black jeep. It had dry mud all over its lower half, and was really beat up but boy was it a beauty. To me at least. “Wow… uh s-sure!” I said and followed her to the vehicle. “Enic!” I heard my name being called by a low voice and turned knowing who it was already. “Isaiah. Hey. What are you still doing here? You’re going to be late.” I said then looked to Amy. “What are you doing?” He asked, ignoring everything I said. “Catching a ride with...Amy.” I said then shook my head. “Amy can you give him a ride too?” I asked and she nodded smiling. “Sure! No problem.” She said and jumped in her jeep. “Who is she?” Isaiah asked but I ignored him. “Come on, or we’ll be late!” I said and jumped the front seat. He rolled his eyes and walked over, jumping in the back. That’s when I realized, there weren’t any doors. Weird.
I shrugged and took the time to look at Amy. She looked to be a little taller than me. Probably about five-five or six, where I was at five-two. She had blue eyes and sun kissed skin. She was majorly built with muscle but not ripped and still held a female figure. She had a cut on her lip like she was punched and dry blood scabbed over it. Bruises were on her forearm and a tight thin sweater covered the rest. She wore jeans that clinged to her as well as a shirt that circled her neck and her sandy brown hair was tied up in a ponytail.
“We’re here!” she said happily and I tore my eyes away from her. Shoot… I was staring at her the whole time. I hope I didn’t freak her out too much...I totally freaked her out. I stepped out of the jeep- or, well, jumped out- and threw my bag over my shoulder. “I’ll see you later Enicabie!” Amy said as she ran off with her bag. I waved then turned to Isaiah. “Who is she? He asked immediately. “I ran into her on my way to school. Or, more like she ran into me.” I said shrugging then grabbed his arm to pull him to walk. “She ran into you?” He asked, and I nodded. I let his arm go and the bell rang. “Time for the test. It’s in the gym, right?” She asked. He nodded and we made our way to the gym.
Once all of the Sophomores were seated, announcements were given about the test. I absolutely had to pay attention. If I stopped for even a second, I would have missed something and everyone would have to wait on me before the test could even start. I couldn’t have all the attention on me; I can’t stand it. Sadly… Someone thought now would be the best time to tap my shoulder. I turned around and saw a guy with the brightest of blue eyes and an even brighter electric blue hair that was spiked. However, his natural hair color was obviously a really dark color. His eyebrows and eyelashes were thick and dark. His somewhat pale skin really pulled together the scary-hot look. To make it more so, he wore a jean jacket, white shirt, black jeans, and black heavy boots. I noticed they had mud mixed with a little bit of black gunk. On his neck was what looked like a-bite mark? Rough relationship much? Ew…
“Hey, I’m Jake Markson. You’re Enic right? Cardel?” His gruff voice snapped me out of my thoughts. “Huh? Oh. Yeah, Enicabie. Why?” I asked as I tried focusing my attention on both him, and the teacher’s words. “Wow. They were right about you. You kinda do have a fascinated kind of look in your eyes.” He said. I looked at him confused. Now that he said that, all my attention is on him. “Uh excuse me?”
“Oh, don’t take it the wrong way. It’s a good look. But anyway. I want to know. What are you doing this weekend?” O-kay! This guy is seriously crazy and kinda getting on my nerves! Who says that?! “I’m busy.” I said bluntly. I didn’t even have to think about it. I knew I wasn’t busy- I never was- but he didn’t know that. “Oh. Well when your schedule suddenly becomes empty on the weekend, let me know.” He said then turned away. I turned forward in my seat then processed what he had said. “When” not “If”. I shook my head and tried getting back to the test. Unfortunately, I had already missed it all. Looks like I’ll be winging it again!
* * *
“Thank God it’s over!” Milani said loudly while she stretched her arms above her head. I laughed with a nod as we walked to our break. “Yeah. I feel like never sitting again is a good life plan.” I said, and in her reply she said, “You know what? I will have to agree with you on that.” causing us both to laugh. When we stopped by our group of friends there was an argument between the guys. I looked to Milani and she looked to me then we looked to the group and walked over more. “What’s going on?” I asked Alex-the only one that seemed to be trying to stay calm through it all. “Isaiah got mad at Nathan. Something about some girl. Kolai is backing up Nathan and so now they’re just going at it.” He said with a shrug. I nodded in understanding and stood between the three of them with Milani not far behind. “Hey, come on guys, stop.” I said trying to get their attention. “Shut up Enic!” Nathan yelled then went back to yelling at Isaiah. “First of all, don’t talk to Enic like that! Second, you knew how I felt about her, and still you went for her!” Isaiah yelled back. I sighed and turned to Milani for a split second then turned back knowing she knew what to do now. She helped me stop them. And the two of us knew that if we got hurt in the process, Alex would have our backs. “Guys cut it out already!” “Stop it, that’s enough!” We yelled over them, pushing them away from each other.
Nathan backed up more than Milani had urged him to, and Kolai was right behind him. I looked to Isaiah with an almost sad expression, knowing that was the only way to get him to pay attention in the slightest. “Please.” I said in a small voice and he nodded with a harsh sigh before walking off to our next class. I sighed then turned to Milani and saw her talking to the guys still. “What the hell is wrong with you guys?” I think I heard her say, then a “It’s just a girl, next time, both of you drop it.” but I walked away before she said anymore. When the guys left, she walked to me. “Guys are stupid.” I muttered as I ran a hand through my hair. “Yeah they are. I mean honestly, a girl?” She said rolling her eyes. I smiled a little with a nod. “Yeah, tis every boy-fight in a cheesy movie. I wonder if the girl was here watching.” I said and she nodded. “If she wasn’t, I’m sure she’ll definitely here about it by the end of the day.” Milani said as the bell rang for class. “More like by the middle of lunch.” I said and we both laughed before parting ways to our classes. Mine of which was with Connor.
On my way there, I was ambushed by Amy Lola, and two other people, one male, and the other female. “Hey Enic! Remember me? Amy. I heard Jake talked to you earlier about-” She said but the other girl interrupted. “Why did you turn him down? Who are you anyway? You think you-” the male then interrupted, putting an arm out in front of the girl. By this time, I was so confused and now a little nervous. Not because he was intimidating but because the late bell for class was due to ring any second now. “Hold on ladies, lets just wait a moment. Introductions first. I’m Raith Showel. This girl here…” He said putting an arm around the girl while she glared at him, “...is Blake Espen. You met our boy Jake earlier and he asked you something. You turned him down saying you were busy. We know that can’t be true because you walk home with that one loser, and you don’t leave home once you’re inside unless your mother-” O-kay, MY turn to interrupt! “Woah, wait! How would you know any of this? Are you some kind of stalker? And you have no right to call anyone a loser buddy, especially right now!” I said, losing my temper.
To tick me off even more, he laughed and shook his head, then looked to Amy. “No wonder this one turned him down. She’s already got a thing for someone.” Wait. What? “If you mean I’m interested in someone, you’re dead wrong. I don’t-” he interrupted me. “Ah so she’s the suspicious type.” He said with a nod. I rolled my eyes as the bell rang. I sighed and pushed through them and went to my class. I heard them following behind me though so I sped up till I stepped into class. Our class was rearranged and Connor sat in a group that had five seats, four facing each other, and one on their end. All of which were empty. Connor looked at me and waved me over. I looked around the room hoping for a seat to be open. None were empty though. Of course. Just my luck. I sighed and walked over before sitting in the seat diagonal from him. He rolled his eyes and stood up with his things and sat next to me. I didn’t want to play musical chairs so I didn’t move. “So you met my friends.” he said. I looked at him shocked. “Those were your friends?” I asked him, shocked. “Yeah. Hold on.” He said holding up a finger. He turned around and did something, as though on cue, the door opened and the three from before entered the room. I groaned and put my head down on the desk. The teacher waited till the three sat down in the other three empty seats. Okay...was this planned? And why isn’t the teacher saying anything about them? They obviously aren’t in this class!
“Next time…” Connor said quietly once I lifted my head back up, “...I want you to let Jake finish inviting you to wherever before you turn him down.” He finished. I looked at him confused. “Why does that matter? He was hitting on me. I don’t really care much to soften the blow to say no.” I stammered trying to explain myself while I tried listening to the teacher. He shook his head closing his eyes as though he were the one that was stressed out by the situation. “Just.. next time listen. Okay?” he said looking at me carefully. “Whatever. Fine.” I said with a shrug. Who is he to tell me what to do anyway? He’s crazy to think I- “I know you’re just saying that, but thank you.” he said while I was in mid-thought. Oh so he can just read my mind now?! Cause he kn- “Yeah, I know. ‘You know me so well’, right?” he said with a smirk. Excuse me?! My mouth made a perfect O with a gasp of shock before I slapped him loudly, making the teacher stop and look at me. “Miss Card-” She started to say but I interrupted her by saying, “I’m sorry Mrs. Anderson. I don’t know what came over me. May I take a minute outside?” already walking to the door and out the classroom.
Who the hell does he think he is?! The hell came over me too?!
