Fun fact! I have waaaay overthought everything about this world.
So here have random information along with a pretty picture!
Instead of Summer and Winter solstice, the people of Mizhenia call them "Brightness' Day" and "Darkness' Day," respectively. Now, the nocten (That's what Decian is! I made them up!) mostly worship Darkness. They'll dim the lights in the Deep Wood (Where they live) and all wear darker clothing. But they do also celebrate Brightness' day, even though they don't actually get sunlight on the forest floor... Ever. (The trees are that dense.) However they brighten the lights, and they all dye their clothes and paint their bodies with stuff made from the pollen of glow in the dark flowers. Everything's all glowy and bright and it's great! They play music and dance and drink. Decian always gets that day off duty, because his parents died in preparation for it. But that's a story for another time.
