Guild Wars 2. I did a comic about this a while back with Vinny and Fi, but this was a great revisit. I've always loved the game...but when I went back to grab my screen shot of Fi, I was stunned at how well it's held up.
Seriously, it's STILL gorgeous and runs fantastic. It doesn't even feel all that dated in my opinion. If you haven't been through it in a while, it's a great model: buy to play--no sub necessary.
Paying extra is only necessary if you want gems and they aren't essential to enjoy the content. I've got a bunch of level 80 characters and I revisit occasionally. I might have to hit it a little harder to try out the new expansion.

my brother has that games, i think he got it way back when i first came out.
we were both still living with our parents at the time, so i played some of the game under his name, just to get a feel for it.
it looked great, but back then i prefered other games
