I ate through edible snacks that almost expired and watched my brother going through some stuffs. Then he pulled out something like crossbow? I don't know but he inspects it very carefully and put it besides him.
"What is that, Ty? It's like—"
"Crossbow." He said shortly. I packed my things before followed him.
"And by the way, how did you find the knife?"
"I found it, laying on the ground upstairs." So that's why he's uncomfortable before. After he said that, suddenly sound of smashing glass rang across the first floor not far from where we're at.
"What's that?" He whispered. Then he got up and walked slowly towards the main source, with me following not far behind.
"It's a survivor." He said to me. Of course, he can sensed it after all. We went there and peeked from the door. Somehow, we can see people among the broken chair and table cast in shades of light yellow. Beyond the ominous feeling the ruined city gave off, at least this place was decent enough to be lived in. A place where not one of *them* touched yet.
He was silent after this. I felt it was wise to crouched down and went towards it.
"Is someone there?" I froze. He pointed a gun at me, but I didn't move at all.
"What do you want?"
"Nothing. We just wanted to make sure you're alive." I got up. And walked away.
"W-Wait! I'm sorry, please stay!" He begged.
He slowly put away his gun and pushing his body off the ground. He looked at us with a smile on his face.
"Hah~ I thought you guys are the looters. Sorry about that." He apologized and I brush it off.
"Don't worry about it. So, can you explain to us what happen to you?"
He seemed reluctant but he continued.
"I was being chased by zombie before. With only my baseball bat and gun to depend on, I kept running to avoid them but when I found a minimarket just like this one. Humans who survived tries to get my supplies. So, I found these places to hide from them or you could say looters. " He tightened his hold on the guns before he moved his head again to the window, and discovered that they didn't follow his trail here.
I forced myself to think. Maybe he is a nice guy after all, I thought. Trust is basic things to gain an ally in this twisted world. And I can't protect my brother and myself at the same time too. So...
"Do you want to come with us?" I said silently. He heard and turned his head to me.
"You always said us." He mumbled. He continued to look around until he noticed a figure standing near the door. From the sillhouette he could tell that the figure was a boy.
"Oh, it's just me and my brother." I motioned my brother to come and he began walking towards us, who was a little nervous to move.
"It's fine, Ty." He got closer and my new *friend* was able to make out more and more of my brother appearance.
"Hi, I'm Andrew. What's your name?" Andrew said nicely before extending his right hand.
"I'm Tyler. You can call me, Ty." Our meeting lead to something that we never thought could happen to us in our lifetime. The world, Zombies, this twisted fate no matter we liked it or not, still move accordingly.
